It was started by the same team behind BeyondDomaining.com and
the new Domaining 2.0 domain blog aggregator -Domaining20.com.
Nope, it was started by yours truly (some of you probably know me as the owner of Billion Dollar Media, Auctionpus and DomainingTips). I have initially posted a little bit about myself and my businesses as an answer to a question asked by another member but all of those posts have been deleted (more info can be found at the end of this post).
The mod who deleted them asked us not to post anything about other websites in this thread, as such posts would be considered off-topic. While I don't agree with this approach, rules are rules and they need to be respected.
And for those questioning whether they really had the BBB logo up - sure looks as if they did, since the BBB image still resides on the MiniEscrow.com's website.
The programmer originally used it as a placeholder image and forgot to delete it from the server. We're not a US-based company, so any affiliation with the BBB is out of the question for obvious reasons.
For some reason a bunch of posts in this thread providing details about MiniEscrow were deleted. Strange!
There was quite a bit of drama on NamePros after the thread got deleted. Here are the cliff notes:
1) dotboy started the thread and 2 people (if I'm not mistaken) asked questions (legitimate questions, in my opinion) which a moderator thought were off-topic (questions such as "who owns this site?"). As a result, the moderator deleted this thread.
2) I did not agree with this decision and started another thread in order to ask what happened
3) the moderator and I posted our opinions, then we agreed to disagree on pretty much everything but the thread was reinstated (only the first post remained intact, as the other ones were considered off-topic by the moderator)
In order to avoid such problems again, the mod asked us to follow certain rules:
A) all of the posts need to be about MiniEscrow and the experience people had with this website, so nothing about other websites (I personally think that questions such as "does anyone know who the owner is?" are legitimate but the moderator did not agree)
B) no links to other websites should be posted in this thread
Do I agree with these rules? No, but it's not my/our forum, so we need to respect the decisions of any member of the mod team.
