Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

I will start the thread off with a few of my own reg's..

3DHighDefinitionTV.com (also have plural)
3DHomeEntertainment.co.uk
3DHometheaters.org
3DStreamingMovie.com
3DVancouver.com
3DWhistler.com

Saucey. ;)

It's SO easy to get caught up in the moment. Three years ago, I got caught up in etv domains. It wasn't even a fad, but I thought for sure that something was going to come of it, and I ended up regging about 200 of them (I have about three left from that frenzy, etvfeed and one that verges on a BIG TM, App + etv--I was so focused on the etv part that I didn't even realize it until a lot later--and Appsetv). It was a tough lesson to learn; I was a total newb who knew nothing about the numbers associated with domaining.

My point is, I tend to be more careful now. I do check out 3D on the aftermarket, and if I find one that looks really good, I'll bid on it (but not too high--haven't got an aftermarket one yet) or if I'm not sure, I'll wait until it drops and, if possible, pick it up for reg fee. If I don't get it, no worries. Domains are like trains; if you miss one, you can always catch the next one.

The problem is, for those of us who have impulse issues, the chase is half the fun, the "getting" part is almost a letdown, the time when we start second guessing ourselves.

Domaining IS fun, but it's also a business in which one can lose a lot of money. Any one of the .com 3D domains listed here could hit the big time, even an oddball name like 3Dbald. Who would ever think that Chat Roulette would be the big deal that it is and that CamRoulette would follow its coat tail and sell for the low six figures?

But understand this: with 3D domains, we are engaged in a form of gambling, and most of us will likely lose. But let's not make it such a big loss that we have to sell our homes or cars or keep food from our families' mouths.

JMHO.

Curious - anyone know how much P&G paid for 3dwhite.com --

Crest 3D White Teeth Whitening Systems -- they are promoting this Crest product on their site and primetime TV ads ---
probably a private transaction :)

I was surprised the singular was still avail. I've got uniques for hotfile3d, 3drevenue, rapidshare3d, 3drecipes and 3dbluraytv in the week or so they've been on sedo. Only one or 2 for each except for rapidshare3d with 8, but its a start. I reckon its worth the punt.

Some of you are just blatantly wasting your money. I mean, speculation is one thing; but a good number of them don't even stop to think, how the name can be a viable business model?

What is anonymous3d?

It just doesn't make any sense. And if it did, wouldn't anon3d.com be a better choice?

Stop it guys. You're all wasting your money. Save it and buy 1 or 2 decent keywords an end user can use to start or represent an online business.

This 3d thing is gone too far. Most names listed within this thread will never find a home on the web besides a parked page.

Unbelievable.

I purchased 3 3d domain names, two were a complete waste of money what was i thinking.I'm one of the lucky ones to have at least one out of 3 names maybe worth something. my 3dmobiletv domain is getting action, and is worth developing, the 2 others sell for 15.95 pm me if interested will start a new sales thread soon they will be in fixed prices.Yes measure twice cut once dont go rushing buying
3danythingyipee.com I have a list of names i want grows daily of course, but some i cant believe werent reg'd 6 months ago there still not.I buy one ocasionally.

I agree with the above who agree that some people are just wasting a sh!tload of money.
When i first came here I had 300 names,a girl asked me did you have a business plan,I said yes,to buy them and sell them for more than I bought them for.
I have chisled my inventory down to 120 and 50 of those 300+ are worth developing,250 are a waste of money.I have sold a few.
Some here will have awesome sales skillls and double or triple there money over and over, but some of these names are really not good business decisions.:imho:

I flipped a low $1,xxx 3D spanish keyword domain today

It could be a great sale or one I will regret later..but I could not say no on a $8 reg

If the buyer is ok for me to report will post here today

Hi Guy's

Finally got it all completed today had to wait for payment to clear
buyer is also happy for me to report :tu:

.com

3dmovil " 3D Mobile in spanish "

Real good ROI on a $8 reg sold to the new owner at $1150 :)

Thus taking my 3d sales up to $4150 since my first reg late January 2010
