Anyone else registering 3D domains?

It seems that 3D is going to be the the next must have technology, according to the big brands, they are all launching 3D TVs.

I attempted to find good 3D names but the best domains are already taken, I think in 5 years time or even less, those generic 3D domains will be worth a lot. :imho:

Anyone else registering 3d domains? Do you think they have a future?

have u looked at godaddy for 3d names?.. they are getting CRAZY scarce
... i mean, there's still some goodies on the shelf, but just a matter of time before they get bought... THEN ..
well, then...you're talking a simple case of supply and demand.

An unlimited supply is there. You can tell by the amount of crap 3D names being registered.

But as far as demand...not even close. Cuz if there was real demand, we'd see some sales. And as you're one of the biggest pushers of 3d names, well, can you point out again how many sales you've made so far?

i was curious, so i just did a little comparison, i ran through some of the HD channels on my DishNetwork, those that have been around for awhile ... 3D is very much like HD, it changes the game and gives companies an opportunity to create new channels, here's what i found...

ok, i've gotten bored, but the point is HD has been huge as well, but it hasn't meant additional - hd specific websites.

it did create some new players, like...
HD Theater (main site dhd.discovery.com - hdtheater.com - squatted)
HD Net (hd.net - awesome name)
Universal HD (universalhd.com)

now products are another story but as far as channels go - it didn't affect too much, and i suspect 3d will follow suit.

HD is not a dimension you can build a HD website and you don't even have to tell anyone
HD is the quality of the picture and not marketable at all
3D is a entire different ball game , Its a dimension and a dimension in which you can display items that you sell. It may or may not require glasses but this dimension is making millions

3D websites will increase revenues of company's 10 -20 percent and that's why you will see these roll out.
And when they do cash in fellas.

Sorry 3dDomainNames, can you enlighten me on the names that are TM's, the only one I see that may be a TM, is the Bluray name, can someone confirm this, not sure if Bluray is TM'ed

... but if i was digging for names today and saw IN3-D.com available ..
...i'd conpy and paste it on to my AVAILABLE list and worry about it another day..
.. meaning it's just not that strong a name... well, the placement of the dash just kills it for me ... IMO ... (sorry)

Let's face it, the number of 3D + keyword(s) combinations is virtually infinite. There is no scarcity of domains.

once again.. yes & no.

I searched years ago, and still had my lists available, re-ran them recently plus checked for new concepts and most of the popular & probable vertical keywords are GONE. some were regged recently, but most have been regged for years.

not hundreds, but thousands.

though the technology for 3D has been around for a long time, this new & improved 3D has been heavily promoted within the relevant industries for at least 3 years. But now we have major manufacturers aligning with content producers & developers to aggressively target the consumer hardware/software space and it could prove to be a tectonic shift. 3D is a gamechanger... for those industries. Whether or not domainers will benefit remains to be seen. IMHO, for domainers to do well, it will all come down to intelligent registrations combined with proactive direct marketing... not the shotgun-reg approach while you sit & wait for offers. But that's common sense and applies industry-wide.

I searched for..3damateur.com and it was taken...So I registered 3damateurcams.. and that sold today..funny how things just work out.

I came in late buying 3D Domains around January I could not register the great domains like Giles or 3dDomainNames or Ralf as they were all taken..so I went another route and it worked out.

The official name is Blu-Ray 3D. But many people say 3d Blu-Ray.

The Blu Ray Disc Association has two "3D" like TM Registration applications at USPTO. The Mark Drawing Code for both is "(5) WORDS, LETTERS, AND/OR NUMBERS IN STYLIZED FORM", with Current Filing Basis 1B (Intent to Use). The applications are "Live", and in both cases the associated Word Mark (for database search) is "Blu-Ray 3d", but of course the TM application is for a Stylized Form. The TARR Status Page reveals that this has not yet been assigned to an examining attorney. Both filing dates show December 14, 2009.

These are both Stylized drawing code applications. It does not appear at this time that there are any "3D" like Blu Ray applications making the "Standard Character Claim" (i.e., No applications yet for the text string, without regard to font or design).
