Are we ok to put adsense on .tv domains? I just bought my first 2 and I thought someone was saying that you couldn't put any ad's on .tv (maybe it was me.tv).

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
No rule against it, however, I was unable to put javascript on me.tv. I was able to plain html ads, but nothing from google.

Adsense on .TV's...

Adsense works on any domain name. I wouldn't count on making any real money using adsense though, unless you're generating alot of traffic...

Here is a sampling of our stats from Adsense...

Page impressions Clicks Page CTR Page eCPM [?] Earnings
35,043 113 0.32% $0.98 $34.21

Selling niche banners are the way to some real money on your .tv site, imo.

Again, Google Adsense is good (money) if you're getting a TON of traffic. Amazon banners were a complete loss during our tests. Google is nice because their system is smart enough to learn your topic matter very quickly and tailor ads to your site topic. Having Google ads are healthy because it gives other possible banner advertisers a sample of what their ad would look like and it keeps the pages somewhat fresh.

We dropped our Amazon ads for now and kept Google. You really need a banner system, quite frankly. Something you have to build or get from your hoster.

Website traffic grows over time. Years ago, I used to tell people about a site I started, "I had 9 visits a day when we started and 6 of them were me. (nowadays of course we filter ourselves out) We now have 12,000 vistors a day, but it took 3 years and hard work to get there." I can tell you absolutely how many fish you will catch if you don't put a hook in the water. Get out there and get your feet wet.

Good luck on whatever you try.

Banners...

If you mean niche banners, you have to market and sell them the old fashion way. Calling, mailing and meeting. We just signed a deal with HP to become the official graphics provider to our network, you can buy artwork through us and their graphics arm will make them, if you don't have a designer. I will probably get in trouble for telling you that, but if you're struggling for a graphics answer, it is a good one.

Google Adwords however has code that you can insert into your site and they will bring the banners to you. Neat thing about Google is they learn what kind of site you have, extremely fast and start delivering ads that are relevant to the topic matter. Best thing to do is construct a banner system that rotates ads so that Google or these niche type ads can all rotate through your site. If you have the coder knowledge you can hook a Paypal cart to your banner system and have people buy a banner and upload it on the spot. This is a good way to capture the sell while the buyer is thinking about it.

If you get enough traffic going, you can sell you ad inventory to an ad agency or some kind of company like an ad agency that has clients already; saving you the marketing a direct sales cost of selling them yourself. You will of course have to split the revenue with them in some form or fashion, but if you can get a site hot enough to do this, it can really save alot of work for you, so you can spend your time building your warez.
