Of course this has to be qualified, say.com obviously has a bad letter in it but it does not make it terrible.

Just take it on a case by case basis is my advice but the above generally rings true :)

This is an excellent question though :)

Premium, semi-premium and anti-premium letters are just domainers' concepts when a three-letter combination isn't a dictionary word. 'Say' is a very common English keyword, so nobody would ever dare to sell 'Say.tld' as an acronym domain.

End users look for meaning: if one has a business named 'XYZ', they'll wish to buy XYZ.tld, regardless of the letters quality.

A 'bad' letter in English can be a good letter in Spanish and vice-versa :gl:
But of course you also have to look at the combo as a whole.

And "zzz" would be a bloody awful name if simply going off that list but it has an internationally recognised meaning for sleep.

It is not enough to simply ignore all those with supposedly bad letters.

The secret is you ALWAYS have to look for meaning in a domain and this applies not only to 3L's. If you have a 3L, first try to understand if it means something as whole word. If this fails, you need to find a meaning as an acronym for it. This is where letter quality comes in (the 'quality' of a letter just refers to its frequency, hence a greater probability there will be many words starting with this letter).

Premium letters was invented by domainers who held domains with no inherent value.

Three letters have value if they are (a) Words (b) UNMISTAKABLY pronouncable (for example, UHJ is not though domainers will claim it to be - just like "huge" without the "H" like in "herb") and finally (c) Acronym that is recognized.

Everything else is speculative.

Spanish Premium letters <> English Premium letters so factor that in. Spanish pronunciation is not English pronunciation so factor that in.

If you held H G L .co what could be a valid selling point?

Well you could always start a sales thread with TRIPLE PREMIUM!

Of course if you are luck enough to own REPEATING TRIPLE PREMIUM!!!!!!

Don't worry about it. You know looking at three letters whether they mean anything to you or not. If they don't why would they anyone else? Obvious exceptions exist:

PHP means nothing to a non developer maybe.
CSA might mean something to a Canadian Screenwriter.

Ya, This premium letter concept is only for domainers. When it becomes genaric or with the end user; letters doesn't mean anything

are all premium 3 letter .co taken now? There was a mass purchase today on premiums...don't think there's any more left in the primary market.
