I saw a video this week from two NamePros members: @Omar Negron and @Willox Perez on their story of why you should sometimes trust yourself to take a risk on a domain name you like.
Their story started with a domain name they backordered at NameJet: OrderSushi.com. In the video, Omar says that they had "a good feeling about the domain" and "we felt there was a good possibility in the name." However, after bidding up to around $130, the pair decided against bidding further.
According to NameBio.com, the domain sold at NameJet for $140. Then, a matter of weeks later, Omar and Will noticed that the domain had sold again on Flippa; this time for $1,805 with 42 bids submitted.
Whilst you should never dwell on domain names that you almost owned, or sold only to see the same name sell for much more, I find the story very interesting. It shows firstly that you should sometimes trust your instincts and submit just one more bid, or just go that little bit higher.
Secondly, it shows that Flippa can be a great marketplace to sell domain names. We hear plenty of stories about high figure sales to Chinese investors at NameJet, but when marketed correctly, Flippa can produce some excellent results.
