In this week's Top Topics, an investor shares some information about a one-word .TV sale, and domainers debate after brand switches from a two-word .COM domain name to a one-word .APP name. Elsewhere, we discuss why networking is beneficial to domainers and our featured poll asks whether you would boycott a domain related company for differing political views.

Voice.tv Sold for $8,600

The .TV domain extension is a versatile TLD that has been an attractive prospect for end users and developers. The popular live streaming site Twitch, for example, operates on .TV even after Amazon's $970 million purchase of Twitch.

Another .TV domain name has reportedly been sold recently for $8,600. Little else is known about the sale but NameBio has listed the sale in its database and DomainIQ shows a recent WHOIS update. Voice.tv is already being used by Alexa developers.

Does Networking Really Help?

Networking, the practice of connecting with individuals and businesses, is a popular and vital part of many industries, but is it as crucial in domaining? Since domaining is, on the surface, relatively individualistic, the answer may not be as clear as you may think.

In this discussion, investors are debating the pros and cons of networking in the domain industry. From a personal point of view, making new acquaintances via LinkedIn, email or events such as NamesCon is a springboard for new opportunities and potential business.

Poll: Do You Boycott Any Domain Companies?

This week, there has been one highly debated discussion regarding the reaction of domain registrar Epik's CEO Rob Monster to the recent atrocious massacre in New Zealand. This has resulted in some industry participants publicly denouncing the company's services.

From this, TheDomains.com's managing editor Raymond Hackney has created a featured poll asking whether conflicting political beliefs would ever stop you from using a domain industry company or service. The results of this poll can be viewed in the discussion.
