information Five Domaining Apps for your Smartphone

Spaceship Spaceship
The domain name investing industry doesn't take a break, even if we try to. Last week, I went away and refrained from using technology as much as I could. I did, however, succumb to using my iPhone to check in on NamePros to see the latest news, as well as visiting a couple of apps to ensure that I could stay on top of what was happening in the virtual world.

I needed to use five apps to monitor auctions, sales inquiries, emails and news. I've decided to share those apps with you here. If you have any of your own domaining apps that you'd like to share with us, please comment below.

NameJet App - Free on iOS
NameJet released a free iOS app last July to enable its customers to manage bidding from their iOS device. The app includes features such as:
  • Account control
  • A list of current auctions
  • A last minute board
  • Push notifications
  • The ability to place bids on domain name auctions at NameJet
I find that I'm using the app increasingly to monitor auctions and to place bids on auctions I'm participating in. It's an extremely convenient way of managing your bidding activity without having to navigate to NameJet's website.

The app is very simple to use, well designed, and I especially like the push notification feature, which can remind the user of an auction that is due to close soon. Unfortunately, NameJet don't currently have an Android version of this app.

DomainNameSales App - Free on iOS
Frank Schilling's ultimate parking and sales platform has created this iOS app, which is a real Godsend for easily managing inbound inquiries whilst away from a computer. The DomainNameSales.com website is not mobile friendly, so the use of this fantastic app really does make responding to inquiries much easier.

Whilst the app doesn't have all of the functionalities of the website, it does provide enough information to allow you to make an informed decision on how to proceed with any inbound inquiry. If you are a DomainNameSales.com customer with an iOS device, then you should definitely be using this app.

SnapNames App - Free on iOS and Android
I buy many names through SnapNames, so it's important to be able to monitor my auctions and orders there, as I do at NameJet. The official SnapNames app is available for free on iOS and Android, so if you are a regular user of the SnapNames platform, then I'd recommend downloading this app.

If you've ever used the SnapNames website on your mobile device, you'll know that it isn't mobile friendly and bidding on an auction in this scenario is a difficult thing to do. I'm thankful that SnapNames have provided this simple app to help their customers spend more money.

Using this app, I was able to win a domain name auction whilst eating a pizza. Who said men can't multi task?!

Twitter App - Free on all platforms
Twitter has become my number one source for reading the latest domain name news and opinions. I now follow many industry blogs and prominent figures including:
You'll find that most blogs and news sources will tweet their latest blog posts as soon as they're written, meaning that you can receive the latest news immediately. Whilst I still visit Domaining.com, I do so less and less thanks to Twitter.

Sidekick App - Free on iOS and Android
You may be familiar with Sidekick, but for those of you who aren't, I shall briefly explain. Sidekick is a simple tracking plugin for Gmail. It allows you to see when an email has been opened along with data such as the user's location and the platform on which the email was opened.

Alongside the Google Chrome extension, the Sidekick team have released an app for iOS and Android to give you the power of the plugin on your mobile device. Through Sidekick's app you are able to access push notifications, meaning that the app will notify you whenever someone opens an email tracked by Sidekick.

The app also allows you to send tracked emails from your smartphone - something that you cannot do via your phone's default mail app. This allows you to send and track important emails on the go.

Cheers James,

Have you checked out DomComp for the Android? or DomComp.com (I'm not affiliated) Just think it's a great site to search and compare new reg, transfer and renew unto nearly 2000 domain extensions.

It's a very smart site and can be used to scan various extensions too.
One thing to note, is that some registrars that come in the cheapest might add VAT (This is not down to the site as it's an aggregator.) But down to the registrar not being transparent.

I also remind the great GODADDY APP (multiplatform) very useful to check the end of the auctions and many other tasks.

Also the great VOODOO app (only for android) for all the guys that park domains with them.

The Linkedin App (multiplatform) that could bring some cool news following groups, receive messages there when you travel and reading the news on Pulse.

Thanks @jamesiles!

I used the eBay and Flippa apps for the instant notifications.

For those who want security will not forget the Google Authenticator App.
PayPal is good to make fast payments for domains, as well as to check payments.

Other domain-related apps I found but I did not used much are 4.cn and EstiBot Mobile.
