information Breaking: V8.com Sells for $250,000

NameSilo
Short and valuable domain names are continuing to sell for high values, with Chinese domain investors paying premiums to get the best available names.

We can bring you some exclusive news today, with the two-character .COM domain V8.com selling for $250,000.

The buyer was a Chinese domain investor, who looks to own a large amount of other domains already.

The seller confirmed the sale to me earlier today, confirming that the sales price was $250,000.

This sale will rank as the joint twelfth highest of this year, tied with Framer.com. It is also the second highest two-character .COM sale of the year, behind 3W.com.

Thanks to James Booth of BQDN for the tip.

Thanks for the article. Isn't this an end-user sale for that price?

Thanks for posting this. It made me look at v8 car names, and I picked up V8rats.com to add to my ratrod collection. :)

Actually, I think this is a risky investment. Campbell soup has this brand since 1933. They own now V8juice.com right now. It would be something if the V8 brand which has been around forever and owns the market name and the trademark, got it via a UDRP.

What a waste of a quarter million dollars. He should have gotten V888888888888888888888888.com for reg fee.

I dont think there is much of a chance of that, as long as it is not used in that category, but rather as a V8 cars site. Not to mention that cars are a lot higher in value than a juice, and the pay per lead or pay per click would be a lot higher.

Yes, you are probably correct. I posted that before I went to Tess to see what marks were alive or dead. 143 in all, quite a few dead ones too. Campbells goes back to 1930's. Ford has some too for the engine. The domain will probably stay dormant owned by an investor, but we will see. I like it though as one of the better letter-number combos I have seen sold.

V8 dot com has been around for a few years too as has V8 engines

At some point I'd have thought they would have been offered the name or at least known about and or thought about buying the name etc

The fact that they now do not own the domain would I assume be because they do not want to own the domain and or cannot justify paying 250k for a domain name when such a sizable investment would be better spent within their business etc

Purely my opinion

We need more investors like him that can afford to spend these amounts.
For sure v8.com has all the cards to be a $750k sale or more in the future but it's very hard that it will pop in that way.
Some People in this wolrd are so rich that can pay enduser also being investors..
I just remind also 0123.com

Now when you go to the www.v8.com site, it will tell you on Chrome that it is not private, as the owner has it going to the same site as his sales page, but not on a secure connection for that domain name. In other words, he should redirect it if he does not want to get a cert for that domain name. Otherwise, he is losing his traffic.

I Agree with your comments and feel the value is right if you think you can earn out of it.
