IT.COM

ZL.COM sold at $45,100 only on Namejet yesterday

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Yes, it ZL.COM, a real LL.COM domain

Total 124 domainers backordered it included me. I though it will go to $10K at least but I don't have that cash in hand so I don't put another bid after my initial $99 bid

The auction was closed yesterday

The auction close at a very low, unbelievable price!

US $45,100

It is a easy $100K domain if list it on Sedo, or Pool....
I should raise my bid at $50k or so if I relized the auction would be closed at such a low price, that is a steal.....

I am regeret thay I didn't waiting for the end of this Auction... Damm that all drop auctions end at 4:00 AM my local time

Wish the winner would not pay for it, then namejet can relist for a new auction

What do you guys think about this? The winter for domaining is coming because of Economy Crisis?

The url to the auction is here, not sure you can visit it or not if you are not in the backordered list

If it was worth 100k in this economy, it would have sold for 100k or near that -- it didn't.

That is the reason why I called it is a steal..
There would no this thread if it was sold at $100K.

i wouldn't kick myself for missing out on a LL domain that i'd have to shell 50K for. from what it sounds like, if you had purchased it, your interest is in re-selling it. and after paying 50K for it, i wouldn't have a whole lot of confidence that another domainer would pay much higher than that. and because the domain is so short, defining a cash-strapped target market would have been difficult

Sincerey, I don't see any LL.COM sold lower than $90K in 2008.

Yes that is right.

Well in all honesty the thing that surprises me is that there is an accusation that a domain sold for bargain price on Name Jet! I don't think ive ever seen a bargain on Name Jet, let alone a LL.com.

You wouldn't pay over 10k for a name that can be auctioned for 45k?
No, I'm saying for end buyer potential I would most certainly pass on this domain name. As an investment I would really have to think hard about it, probably still pass.

Even an acronym software doesn't provide much.

Zloty (currency of Republic of Poland)
Freezing Drizzle (Weather Symbol)
Zero Line
Zalau (Romania car registration numbers)
Zone Leader (LDS church)
Zone Line (gaming, Everquest)
Zeroth Law (website)
Zeptoliter (10 E^-21, one sextillionth)
Zettaliter (10 E^21, one sextillion liters)
Zichrono Livracha (Hebrew: Of Blessed Memory)
Wow, these make me want to buy the domain name now...NOT!!! Yea I know the NOT was so 90's, had to go old school on this one :)

Another senario is that all of you think about how many Acronym it is in English, but forget that ZL may mean more in other lauguage. I can not give your example on what ZL is in other launguage I don't know, but there are some great Acronym ZL stands for in Chinese (I am from China):

ZL is the 1st Character of these Chinese PinYin:
Chinese Character -- Chinese PinYin -- English
专利 -- Zhuang Li -- Patent
质量 -- Zhi Liang -- Quality
治疗 -- Zhi Liao -- Treatment
展览 -- Zhan Lan -- Exhibition
租赁 -- Zu Lin -- Rent
肿瘤 -- Zhong Liu -- Cancer

I just listed some great meanings in Chinese here, and it stands for many more. And I think the same for a LL.com domain in other lauguages.

I am sure this domain is value more than $45,100 for domainers from any country, and it is worthy of $100K in my view
Seeing this I can see some end user potential. But then think about it, as an investor I don't know that I would buy the domain name at $45k on the hopes that someone that speaks chinese would buy the domain name.

Seeing some of these previously sell at around $100,00 on Sedo, they did seem extremely overpriced at the time. This is just the continuous repricing of all $US priced assets ATM. Im not realy surprised.

I think that this is a solid purchase for an investor. I think it'll be some time before it recoups its value - but I do expect them to regain their lustor primarily because of the branding oppertunities for LL.com's

Was it a Steal? Not really. It was about the market price for that quality of domain name as we are seeing across the board. Its a decent hold for the future.

I do think long term this is a good purchase. I would have looked at it but two things happened.

1.) I didn't even know it was on auction.
2.) Investment wise the capital is best used elsewhere for ROI

This is cheap. And I see Zeal when I see ZL. If bought with Zeal.com it could be a huge brand as a pair.

I would think ZL.com would fetch more but maybe it's just a pass by domainers not looking to spend money for a maybe maybe sell. You have to really consider the resellability on this one. Given choices for paying $xxx, xxx for a domain would a company go after ZL.com? I kind of think not really. And I bet it doesn't earn squat on parking. Places like Namejet mostly attract resellers.
