Hi,
I acquired my first CHIP domain:
z / g / r / m.com
Registered: 2001-12-01
It seems chips starting with ZG are the most valuable because it means Zhong Guo (Literally "Middle Kingdom" in Chinese but it's the dominant word that means "China" or "Chinese"). I am an American in China, so I asked my Chinese friends about this domain as I was bidding on it. It stood out to them because their first association to this domain is Zhong Guo Ren Min (meaning Chinese People).
For example, Zhong Guo Fan means Chinese food. And Ren Min Bi means "Chinese Coin"(RMB). I hear the expression Zhong Guo Ren all the time! Zhong Guo Ren also means Chinese person or Chinese people, but Ren Min is a subtle difference that's hard for me to understand as a foreigner, but more literally plural and implying Chinese people as a whole.
In my friends' opinion, this domain is rather "political" because they associate it with Chinese government political speeches in which they always use this expression, which maybe takes away from commercial value because some companies might be afraid to use it. China is a very politically sensitive country. This domain is currently parked and not blocked by the Great Firewall.
Nameworth appraises this domain at $44,500 retail. If you have experience with these kinds of domains, can you please give me advice. I prefer selling via inbound at full retail price, but I'm also seeking opinions on this domain's liquid value.
Thank you!
