Yes, premium.

I paid extra for Day 5 Early Access registration ($425) and yearly renewal is about $200. I plan on holding it for 10 years until virtual reality becomes more mainstream (go Oculus Rift!), so my budget for this domain is a bit over $2,000 to hold the name until I believe the market will mature enough to value the domain appropriately.

It's true. There is a terrible amount of people with close to a thousand or more domains and they want to come here talking s**t about people wasting money on new GTLDs, but they never stop to question how much money they're losing with their 1000 plus geo (every city + keyword) dot coms. IMO some new GTLDs with highly sought after, top tier keywords have a higher likelihood of being sold than a lot of the terrible dot coms that I see being shopped around here. It's not just about the extension. .Biz, .Me, .TV and .Info when combined with top tier keywords are still selling for decent prices today. Sure dot com is still king bla bla and the obvious lol...Yes, it's still a fact and it's all been said already, but folks will continue like broken records. YES, some people occasionally buy new GTLDs.....but more people buy shitty dot coms....get over it lol.

It has better search volume than "cheap gifts". I would have liked wedding.gifts but that was taken and probably has a crazy renewal price.

Unique.gifts works for almost every gift or occasion and has sold in other extensions many times. Hmm, I may even develop it.
