I have an offer to buy it at $5k and planning to flip it. Is it worth it? how much would you guys think it is worth?

It was a search engine in the Philippines before.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I think it could be marketed as the next yahoo.com or something?
Probably worth mid 5 figures? what do you guys think?

In my humble opinion, it's good but not that good. But I do think it's worth that $5000 offer for sure.

You know Yahoo will become Altaba, will not exist soon.

So yahoo won't be a search engine. Well I still have about a few days before I need to send wire.
How much is your valuation for this @TheWatcher ?

wow! saw this. it stood out for me since I'm Filipino.

I knew about yehey a while back. Didn't know if shutdown. wow. pretty cool to find it here. so wait. do you own it? or is that your offer to the current owner? $5K?

for that domain? that's a steal.

you can easily charge Philippine businesses to redirect it to their business.

to have a little cashflow in the meantime.

then sell it down the road.

Filipinos know that website even if it's dead.

probably has great backlinks to it.

Good luck $5k for that domain is a steal but of course bargain bargain. get the best price possible.

oh so you didn't get it? that sucks.

to be honest I thought for sure that domain would go for higher.

maybe the winner will flip that domain for higher.

17K backlinks? awesome!

I got it. The auction winner doesn't have the money I think and doesn't want to get his account banned so he wants me to buy it from him. And it is already on process. I hope to flip it with high amount.

becareful. sounds fishy. how the hell did the auction winner even get your info to ask you to buy it from him?

I don't think you can do that over at Sedo or Godaddy. where was this auction at?

It was at namejet. I personally know the seller and lives near my place. I was looking for a good domain and asked him. So he showed me that he won the auction but needs the money, so here I am. Probably my lucky day.

I just need to look for a good buyer for this site.

Yehey is the Filipino version of Yahoo. the expression not the company.

when filipinos "think" Yahoo they "say" Yehey. its a cultural thing.

is that the bKlyn bridge in your profile photo? cool. I'm from NJ but go to Dumbo alot.

In fact I own EmpireDumbo and DumboEmpire both in King.

and for reference there is that huge new Shopping mall in Dumbo called Empire Stores.

Good luck with Yehey.

you should dev it.

check out Oxwall. it's a social engine script with many mods. maybe start up Yehey again.

as for a good buyer for the site? here's suggestions.

1. Any and all Filipino Channels. They can appreciate Yehey more than anyone else.
2. Any Casino in the Philippines.
3. Any Condo Developer in the Philippines.
4. Xoom.com or Remitly - money remittance services that target Filipinos.
5. Johnny Air, or LBC - Freight cargo to the Philippines. it's big business Filipinos send tons of packages back home.
6. There's Filipino Parade every year in NYC. I'm sure they can appreciate a great Filipino domain like Yehey.

that's just off the top of my head.

7. oh and perhaps any and all travel agencies or airlines that cater to Filipinos.

Thank you for the awesome suggestions. Yes, that's me on the bridge. Empire stores? Is this the warehouse styled store? I've seen it once, but didn't visit it.

I'll try to pitch it to Filipino companies and I hope they will be interested. So Yehey.com was acquired by apollo global and didn't renew their domain. I'll try to come up with something and I hope my pitches would work, even through email.

you could always try to sell it back to them at a profit. like 10 times what you paid.sometimes people screw up and forgot to renew.

If I were you? I'd report your purchase price for yehey at $5K and write up a story how Apollo let this domain that had 17K backlinks expire and do a Press Release.

should try Ereleases.com

you should do nicely with that. Good luck!

oh wait! even better!

many many Chinese companies from China sell products in the Philippines.might find an enduser there.

You're on a roll! haha I'll try reaching out to them first and if that doesn't work, I'll have a nice press release ready and put up a landing page which is for sale.
I'll now need some good broker or marketer to sell this one with an awesome pitch if it goes sideways.

I'm really thankful that you're helping with those awesome tips.

no worries. Good luck! lemme know what happens!
but in the meantime you should look into leasing the traffic from that domain. that way it pays for itself while you wait for a buyer. hopefully an enduser.

Avtar629 deserves a tip :) !
Great suggestions.
It may be worth your while to go the broker route from the start
You might want to skip contacting the previous owners. Some have lost UDRP's in this circumstance.
Congrats !
Cheers

oh wow! yea that makes sense. but couldn't someone argue that if they wanted that domain so much or valued the TM they would not have let it go?

but 168 does bring up a good point. never thought of that. although I only mentioned it because I've read that some domainers that their "Bread and butter" buying domains that were let go by mistake and then turn around and try to sell it to the previous owner.

I get alot of spam mail from India trying to sell domains I've let expire.

Brokers? This domain can sell itself. why need brokers?

avoid a URDP. send an anonymous email giving previous owner a heads up that their domain has been purchased for $5K.

make sure it's not the same email address as what's listed in the whois data for the domain you wanna sell.

One of the recent wins in UDRP argued some kind of technical glitch "out of their control" and got the name back. I think the excuse was bs but they got it back by demonstrating it was in use and not intended to drop.
So if Yehey.com was in use, it may work for them and contacting them may be viewed as bad faith reg.

Yea, I have had some from the US contact me after expiry. "pay me big bucks for your drop". NO. ;)

If investornow doesn't have an idea of worth, then I can pretty much guarantee he probably doesn't have the technical skills to extract maximum value from the domain.
Given what it used to be, quality of links, etc. value may be in the low to mid xxx, xxx. Worth the broker fee :).
Your example: Casinos , money exchange, channels- may be winners in the 6fig
Cheers

Hey investornow you paid 5 grand for a potential 5 grand loss ,I have a bridge to sell you ,oh wait I see your pic ,you Bought it already? LOL ,all kidding aside companies contact people that own their dropped names
if you agree on a price with them ,they then set up a suit to get back the domain ,because just claim squatting on it ,usually small companies dont know this and they just pay the couple grand to buy the domain because opening a case begins at 2-3 grand , good luck , you may need a good domain broker on this one.
