Yahoo is being a real pain for me - we're indexed fairly well in Google and Live ranking #6 and #5, respectively, for a very big keyword. I've floated around on both. However, over at Yahoo we're not even on the first three pages. What am I missing?

I dont even worry about yahoo tbh , its one or two clicks a day is not worth the hassle, i have some auto run rss feed sites which rank stupidly well in yahoo but obviously sit around 50th in google because i suppose the duplicate content situation, they sit at around 1st ,2nd and 3rd in yahoo which generates 15 uniqes a day if im lucky, google is the one to beat , yahoo is pointless in my books.

However saying that if your niche is more cooperate and has the possibility of getting more business type of traffic then yahoo is used by many businesses i believe.

Sorry not much helpful advise just my 2 cents

I do appreciate the advice.

I guess I'm just confused how I can rank so well on Google and Live, and yet relatively not show up in Yahoo. Google is definitely the largest piece of the SE pie for me, so I guess I probably shouldn't worry about Yahoo as much. We actually used to rank very well on Yahoo (a couple years ago), so I'm not sure what exactly is up.

Hmm you should be okay in sometime. If it is a new site maybe Yahoo will take time.

But as you are mentioning that your site isn't old.

I remember that I talked to one client just somedays ago. He was having same problem.

If possible try to see the keyword weightage on the page.

You are not alone that I can say for sure. I have heard this from more then one person just recently.

You could try altering your site description, it seems to work for me at Yahoo.
I use a tool called quintura search widget. But instead of using this in the content, I use it for site descriptions. Nearly all my sites are on the first page for the site titles.

I've been monitored this as well, you ranked well in Google then you might not be in Yahoo and vice versa. Based from my own experienced, Yahoo seems to rank new sites quicker, then push them back lower. Anyway, I rather have my sites ranked in Google due to the fact that traffic in Google much higher.
