But why am I only receiving $901 per month? Afternic's fees are ridiculously high! Since this domain has received multiple inquiries since last year, I'm considering canceling the transaction.

Find out about the TAX of $372.88 -- is that a one-time charge, or do you have to pay that each installment ($372.88 x 12 = $4,474.56 for TAX???)

Are you on BOOST or No-BOOST?
Were your Nameservers pointed to Afternic Accepted NS, or elsewhere?

That tax is total amount, so the commission seems to be 25%.

Congrats on the sale, use the money to acquire more great domains.

What LTO terms did you have set up?
If the buyer had chosen 13 or longer, you would've saved $ on commission.

does it work same way as lto did on dan??? if so then buyer would pay extra for 13 plus lots

most buyers will not be excited to do this

After checking it's only 5% discount if it's 13 months.

Lease-To-Own

For Lease to Own (LTO) Domain Sales, the standard commission rate of 25% ($15 minimum) or the reduced commission rate of 15% ($15 minimum) are subject to commission discounts, based on the length of the Lease to Own Term the buyer selects
  • 0 to 12 months: 0% commission discount
  • 13 to 24 months: 5% commission discount
  • 25 to 36 months: 10% commission discount
  • 37 to 60 months: 15% commission discount

Seems like you're paying 27.5% commission, which would translate into the jacked 25% fee for not pointing to Afternic + a 2.5% LTO fee.

Remember, don't accept any offer at Afternic until the potential fees have been outlined to you.

I Just learned more about this -- seems they had to pay a TAX based on where the Buyer/Seller are located. So it looks like a 2.5% LTO fee that is Taxable -- in this case it looks like it was a 10% TAX -- but only on the COMMISSION that GD is taking.

$14,915 SOLD price
$14,915 x 25% commission = $3,728.75
Commission x TAX RATE (this case looks like 10%) = $3,728.75 x 10% = $372.88

$11,186.25 -- (this is 75% of the selling price)
$11,186.25 / 12 = $932.1875

TAX is spread out over the LTO payments = $372.88 / 12 = $31.07 subtracted from each payment

$932.1875 - $31.07 = $901.12

You simply need to adhere to the agreement.

Thanks guys for opening this thread and analyzing the stuff.
It seems there is a new, mysterious tax experience and a commission boost.
Why don´t they disclose buyer/seller location and legal basis if they forward Godaddy tax?

I have a similar case:
There is a new LTO sale in my Afternic account. First time since I am Afternic customer there is a tax of ca. 5% of the sale price.

I´d like to know why this LTO is taxable and why the seller has to pay tax and not the buyer, just to understand. However, the onsite explanation and the Rep infos I received are very general.

Thus I am asking here: Did Namepros colleagues experience a taxable sale on Afternic?
FireShot Capture 212 - Sell Domains - Buy Domains - Park Domains - www.afternic.com.png

Price 3,298.00 USD
Payout 2,316.96 USD
Commission 824.40 USD (25%)
Tax 156.64 USD (19% of commission; this rate is (e.g.) German VAT)

Interesting. I wonder if the owners of Aion Online, NCSoft, bought this domain in which case, amazing dodge on a UDRP!

I didn't think that game was still around. It looks like they filed a new trademark related to development https://www.trademarkia.com/aion-87062884
