I searched out all the threads and there isn't an officially designated .xyz thread so how about this one to cover the subject?

So to start off my first xyz reg is:

Sh stands for Shanghai

May have little value if any but I like short domains as possible that I can get in new extensions and with majority of numbers taken I figured why not for the low reg fee right now. Plus it sorry of rhymes.

Depends on how you look at it. Maybe some expected that decline, when so many .xyz were given away. I guess they were not important enough to their owners to renew at $38 bucks. On the other hand, there might be some gems that have dropped or are going to drop that fans of .xyz can get.

What's interesting to me is the huge numbers they mention. I mean, 13.4 million? That's alot of sites, but overall probably a drop in the bucket....if that. Of that, it says .xyz was nearly 9 mil. That's a high percentage.

Yes I can see the premiums one can grab but I'm finding more that with hundreds of million of domains now regged in all extensions and all of the websites how will xyz make an impact unless developed into a site then to get it ranked high in searches will get even harder as more algorithms are added in the future?

The rereg fee is the biggest issue with xyz for sure. As I've said min other threads xyz was created to draw in new domainers as an entry fee for either free or $1 fort 1 year reg. Then when they get hooked thee new domainer buys other extensions and increase their profit for their big dogs.

The domainer may make a few $$ if they sell any domains but a pittance in comparison off course. Its a lost leader .

Netcraft seems to be talking about all hostnames rather than individual www.(example).xyz sites. But it does look odd.

Looking at the latest stats for XYZ and the Netsol renewal figures, if I am reading them right are downright brutal. (0.58%). Have to double check this later today as it is 04:38 here. Overall there is about a 29.82% renewal but there's a big GMO renewal that looks odd.

The "registrants" in the Netsol zone stuffing didn't actually pay for the domains. The domains just ended up in their accounts and Netsol never asked if they wanted them. Of course when the domainers who didn't know what was happening saw the figures for xyz, they piled in. There is web usage and development in .xyz but there's a large non-renewal drop happening. The new registrations are obscuring it.

This is based on the renewals/deletions being in the same month. However they often are spread out over about two months so that a domain expiring in January may not drop until February or March. This makes the figure a bit strange. The real deletions should hit in the next few months and the Netsol renewal rates will only be visible then. The Netsol renewal figures might be a better due to auto-renewals by some customers.

I sold Mat.xyz yesterday. About 400 bucks (bought it recently for 99 cents).

I also got requests from China and Vietnam regarding other names. The guy from Vietnam have asked for our bank account, but still no payment. I'm in no hurry though...
