My thoughts on xyz....

The promos for .01 hurt xyz. That's what I thought. It cheapened it and made it abused and gave it a bad reputation. Made me think that the company was only interested in padding the numbers of registrations, no matter what the cost.
The high cost of premiums are insane (but I'm a cheapskate). But, I think some of them were reduced in price recently. I liked seeing that.

Having said that, I will probably grab one of the free domains if I can find one that I like enough to hold onto it for many years. (Unfortunately, the ones I really like are premiums or taken.)

I hope that the reputation of xyz increases over time. I have a single xyz, and that is it. I think its a good one, but to be honest, I primarily picked it up to sell. (I'm not that great at web development.) But, I won't let it drop.

The problem I see with comparing .xyz with .com is exactly that. A premium $50k .com still costs ~$8-$15 per year. A super premium .xyz costs $13k every year (or so). Over time, that really adds up. A .com is an established domain that most people trust. Yes, it has spam, but it has a large number of established websites, as well. I think it's hard to compare xyz with .com.

Personally, I like .club's premium setup. You pay the high price at first, but have a regular renewal afterwards.
