This is the Notre Dame star Junior quarterback who has huge NFL potential. Will be a leading candidate for next year's Heisman Trophy if he doesn't leave early for the NFL. Please provide any feedback concerning value. Thanks!

If anyone knows whether this domain would have any value I would certainly appreciate you thoughts. Thanks in advance!

It's a very solid name, but it's likely that once he declares his eligibility for the draft (either this year or next), that his agent will want to capture that domain for their own uses. Thus, while I believe the name has value, it's hard to evaluate the resale based on that risk.

You could develop a fan site, but that still doesn't fully solve the issue. Also, a high dollar value would only be realized their commercial development, which would only exacerbate the issue outlined above.

It's a great athlete domain and I wish you the best with it. Hopefully, you will be able to find good use as a fan site going forward.

Thanks for the reply. How would they be able to capture the domain without paying for it?

Well, if they want to file a dispute, it will cost them some. So, you're right: in most cases they will approach you and suggest an exchange for some memorabilia, tickets, etc. You can negotiate the nature of the deal at that time, but I would advise against holding out for a large sum, as the courts tend to side with athletes on fair use.

Gosh he's a cutie; I think I’m in love. BTW doesn’t he play hockey or something?

GatorInSC, listen to everything rocketfly just said. And you'll avoid a world of hurt and legal costs.

Get the memorabilia, tickets and a photo taken shaking Brady's hand. You'll be able to tell your grandkids about it AND show them the photo.

I’m sorry for being so silly with my previous post but I’m known for trying too hard to be witty. I guess I didn’t pull it off, :hehe:

Aside from the obvious which would be his future management team needing it to setup a Quinn portal they’re some incredibly willing boosters out there who might be willing to pay a pretty penny for this domain and develop it to give to him when he turns pro.

Your proper use of the semicolon redeemed this post. Brady seems to have quite a few, ahem, fans.

Reprobate, I hear what you're saying. I would be thrilled with those items you mention. Just for argument sake, though, how could he claim a right to the domain when I registered it 3 years ago when he was a red-shirt freshman at Notre Dame? I can understand if I had registered it once he became famous, but 3 years ago he was relatively obscure.

Here's what you need to do.

1) say you bought it three years ago because you have a pet lemur named Brady Quinn.

2) go out and find a lemur. name it brady quinn.

3) put pictures of said lemur on website. make it a page devoted to Brady the Lemur.

4) become an affiliate of some lucrative "Lemur Food and Merchandising" program. Capitalize on the odd Brady Quinn the football player fan who also happens to own a lemur.

5) celebrate.

This is, I would guess, the most likely way to keep this domain/make money from the domain if a legal battle ensues.

One way to avoid potential legal problems is to have this post removed, then there is no reference - I do not think legal advisors do not know of forums such as this and it does not take a genius to seek out such references.

Will he be taking part in the football world cup next year :)

This is a pretty good point. I dunno if editing it all before it gets indexed would work.

Good point.

But it's still him.

It would make for an interesting legal battle :D

I think due to the fact that you registered it 3 years go when he was a freshman then your loyalty and eye for talent should also be rewarded. Get a signed jersey.

Actually, lie and say that you want a lot of signed memorabilia for a few of your favourite charities, so you'll need the jersey, helmet, pads... jock strap, and whatever else; all signed :D

Don't mention that the charity is YOU.

And be sure to send the jock strap to Slaughterbeck :D
