Does anybody think .ws extensions are worth anything? And what is better .tv .cc or .ws?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

.tv tops all those. I personally don't like .ws but some people do like them. .ws end user sales are very rare. Same goes with .cc I advise sticking to the better known tlds and not to mention they are alot cheaper.

But .tv is just a freaking island. Atleast .ws stands for WebSite. I think the only reason .tv is actaully more common is becasue everyone thinks it stands for television and commercial purposes. .edu, I bought a domain multiplayer.ws, all other extensions were taken, how much you think I can get for this? I posted a thread on it in appraisals.

.tv is now owned by verisign, no longer a country cctld. .tv is a premium domain extension that can cost a few thousand $ a year for premium keywords. ;)

multiplayer.ws I would say no more then $50 at any resale level.

Oh well if .tv is worth that much then I got the perfect domain name for it :]. I never knew it would cost that much. 1 more thing .edu, what about .us compared to .tv?

I would take a .tv over a .us any day but the weird pricing and increased reg fees arnt worth it. I have never regged a .tv but I probably would if I was filthy rich.

http://www.tv For more info on what you are looking for. Good luck

Now that is one weird domain haha. www.tv. Wow lol. I got a domain that can go for 500 - 1000 that is .tv. Only problem is I need someone else to register I can't use a credit card and I have no more paypal left.... :[. And if I send someone else money order they might register the great domain for themselves! Thanks for the link though, I have to read more about this stuff. Domain names is like my life now haha :]

I receive offers on a regular basis for .US names as country code extensions are becoming increasingly more popular (see dnjournal).

The ridiculous prices for tvs combined with the extensions owner makes me steer clear. I actually don't know of anyone who actively promotes a site using the dot tv extension.

ws and cc are both tough to move unless the name is fantastic. The highest CC/ws offer I have ever received is $500 (isp dot cc).

The reseller market for .us is extremely active right now. Infos are pretty active as well however .us has definitely picked up over the past few weeks.

Hope this helps.

.US is coming on strong now that the landrush drops are over. My sales experience over the last year puts it in 3rd place (after .com and .info) currently with many sales over $1k. Never reported the sales as the real players in that extension were still buying and had no reason to want to see the prices move up. .Net name sales have always dissapointed and my experience has been that the ROI has been much better with .biz and .ws names surprisingly. .TV is a joke played on us by Netsol.

.ws=Western Samoa. See http://www.iana.org/root-whois/ws.htm

The .ws=website is just a marketing gimmick. If you work at branding your site that way, then it can certainly stand for anything you want, including but not limited to:

website
waterski
websurf
worthsquat :p just kidding - i know there are quite a number of .ws fans out there :p

The .tv=Television works better than .ws=website because more people understand and use the acronym TV to mean television. Your average joe wouldn't know that .tv=Tuvalu, nor can even guess what .ws means.

Yep - Most extensions available like this started as Country/(Island) -

I'll stick with the US Island over those - lol
