Between .ws and .cc, which do you think is more valuable? Or are both trash?

I always choose .cc over .ws but that's just my personal choice.

The reg price for .cc is much higher than .ws. Actually I like .cc more, but I would reg .ws coz of low price.

I prefer .ws myself for development simply because its got a general meaning in the domain world more or less as "Web Site" and works well with just about any term/word.

.cc doesnt really have a general meaning, to me .cc stands for "Credit Card" "Close Captioning" and like when you cc a copy of a letter/email to another party besides the original contact.

Both seem to have dropped in value vs a year ago, havnt heard much sales action in niether ext.

Which has more value to an end user? I have no idea.

I prefer .cc over .ws in some way.
However it may depend on the keyword such as free.ws, free website or as fonzie used .cc as credit card.

However as fab stated .cc is a bit more than .ws reg fee wise.
About 1.5 times however.

From what I've seen, .cc is more valuable, and I personally perfer it as well.

I think .ws, it has website associated with it. I don't get .cc, as someone pointed out earlier it reminds me of "credit card" or "close captioning". I even thought it meant "Christian church" when I first saw it on a church website.

I prefer .ws, it's really a matter of choice though.

As far as I know, GreatDomains.com and the .CC people are sleeping together thus it would be kinda foolish of them not to accept .CC names.

My view of them: .cc is an extension that was supposed to be a cool alternative to .com, and I do personally like the look of (name).cc. However, the breakout of this extension has simply never happened. Every new extension gets all the glory and .cc is getting more and more lost in a sea of extensions, moving further and further down the list as .cn, .in, .eu, .mobi, etc. have come out and had immediate impact while .cc is still waiting for it.

That said, .ws is like the .name of ccTLDs. There's a ton of them registered...why? Because companies like GoDaddy attempt to market .ws as "WebSite". that's great and all, but have you ever seen an established site on a .com name with WS in the name intending to be short for "WebSite"? Have you see anyone in conversation talk about websites and say WS for short? Neither have I. At least with the whole .cc = credit card argument, CC is in fact used as an abbreviation for credit card...it's not SUPER popular to do so, but it happens. WS on the other hand simply is NOT an abbreviation for website...it's just not used at all, and the only people saying it is are GoDaddy and some other registrars, the .ws registry, and people that believe them.

That's not to say top keywords aren't worth anything in .cc or .ws. I'm sure I could ride Poker.cc and/or .ws to high $x,xxx sales at least. Still, with how long they've been around, their time to shine has come and gone. Still, when comparing the two, I think .cc has ultimately won the value battle. Every now and then, a high 3-figure or low 4-figure .cc sale happens. I myself sold Ad.cc for $1750. .ws on the other hand is lucky to get a reported 3-figure sale once a month.

I've just been (back home) in Europe last month and have seen a surprisingly high number of .cc domains advertised, yet not a single .ws
I'm uncertain whether that's truly indicative that the .CC(s) are "better" than the .ws, personally, i prefer the .cc extension, for one - because i have a decent one (z3.cc) for another, the double letter extension .cc sounds better than .ws
in the end, it's probably user preference, and 'tis is just :imho:

I have just a couple of each with the strongest keywords that I could find in my areas. Yes, I got late to the game.

About value, they are the same for me, since I am developing all of them. Just .CC sounds better that .WS, which is anyway making lots of money to their registry and if they wanted to make a small part of that money available to promote their extension, it would significantly rise in price. I don't see .CC in need of much promotion but .WS does need for sure.

.cc is more valuable in my opinion.

.cc :imho:

Why? It sounds a hell of a lot better than ".ws". Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that there are a lot more .cc sales than .ws sales. During it's lifetime, I think that .cc has shown much, much more potential than .ws. From what I've seen and experienced, .ws has flopped.

GoDaddy's pushing ".ws" to stand for "WebSite" is pretty pointless in my opinion, since it's pretty repetitive. I mean, what extension isn't used for Web Sites? :gl:

By the way...I think I own just one of each, so please don't consider me biased. ;)

I'm inclined to agree with the majority of the above posters.

The best thing .ws has going for it is its price.

I own both .ws and .cc names. I use ws for a personal site of mine, sendatext DOT ws but i own borat.cc as well.
