Writing Charges For Bulk Orders

I often come across writers who are willing to drop prices in case they are able to get bulk orders. What I dont understand is unlike other businesses where you may be able to save on raw material if purchased in bulk, in writing, bulk orders actually need more effort if not the same. A 500 word article needs the same amount of time and effort whether you write one or ten. I often wonder why discounts are offered on bulk orders.

If the ratio of buyers to writers is 10:50, then you would understand why writers are willing to lower their rates for bulk orders just to get the attention of the buyers. Granted quality is not compromised.

You may be a top-notch writer but if you don't get hired because others are offering more at the same price, you'll just be eating dust. Of course, you should also set a limit to your "charitable works" or it will affect the quality of your work without you knowing it.

A lot of "writers" are actually more like middlemen, outsourcing the actual writing to other people. It's easier for them to plan in advance if you order say 10 articles from them at the same time then if you order 10 articles from them haphazardly.

On the other hand, a large article on a single topic will often be more expensive per word -- easy to write a 500 word article on social engineering, however only a real expert (and they don't come cheap) could write a 500 page article on it.
