I have read some posts on using Wordpress to build mini-sites for PPC and CPA sites.

Can someone provide a how to start and step by step instructions for using Wordpress to build sites.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply!

Although, I was looking for more detailed information after downloading.

Can anyone tell me how to start and set up. There are instructions but I'm not sure about entering the database information and such?

Thanks

You can also install from Fantastico in the cpanel, it's just a few minutes to install all the files and databases automatically.

It's quite simple..

First create a database. Then create a user. Then assign the user with full permissions to that database...

Then download Wordpress, and follow the instructions, they are VERY easy to follow (all you have to do is fill in the information).

Then upload Wordpress, and go to the url of your site. It should take you to the install script. After that it is quite simple to get to know.

Hope I helped. ;)

if wordpress is not a must for you, you can register a domain and redirect it to a blogger account. You will not need to pay a web host :)

I can do my best to help you if I'm able. First of all, have you created the database?

If not, what control panel do you use? For example: Plesk, cPanel, or another such as a proprietary one of the hosting company.

If you do already have a database and you know its information, then you need to find a small file called wp-config-sample.php (in the root dir. of the wordpress files) and rename it to wp-config.php. Then you edit that file with the proper database details. After that is in place, upload and installation may begin.

I'll be glad to supply further instructions if needed. :)

Go to Caroline Middlebrook's blog and download her free E-book - it explains all the basics and have a look at my mini-site freejobsadvice.com to see what you will end up with as a basic site - you will still have the problem of getting traffic to the site though - if you need any further info. send me a PM - I don' recommend BlueHost for hosting which it was she says in her Ebook - I would go with Hostgator if I were you

Thanks For all the Good Information!

I'll give it a go but still unsure about creating the database. Do you mean create a database within a web hosting service. For example, if I have some hosting with 1and1, should I create a database in my account?

Yes, that is correct. I'm not familiar with 1and1's services, but you should be able to create a database (and a user for it) either directly within your account, or on your server if you have some kind of dedicated hosting.

I used to do this. I had approx 100 wordpress blogs setup and covered in articles about the given topic.

If you can, get a host with Fantastico or Installatron, that will allow you to install wordpress from within cPanel! I know you can pay people to do it for you as I used to do it for people at DP...its fairly cheap to find someone to do it for you (or even some of it).

I used the GoDaddy.com hosting connection to install Wordpress 2.6 and it created the MySQL database for me. Very simple.

Then you get to the good stuff of customizing Wordpress via plugins to meet your personal needs and website goals.

Although it is only my first blog, it couldn't have been easier once you get it installed.

Wordpress yes..

Once you have your domain any decent host would have Fantastico or Installatron which makes installing Wordpress VERY easy. No need to play around creating users. I'd avoid going the Hostgater or one of the big oversellers that make you pay for several months in advance to get decent pricing.

Check the Namepros forums and you can find some affordable hosting offers that meet your needs.

Fantastico rarely has the latest version of most scripts thats why I dont recommend using it to install scripts. They are usually pretty easy to install yourself but surprisingly some people cant install even basic scripts, I know because they have paid me to do it for them . Just follow the install instructions and you should be OK :).

If you do not have a tutorial that explains something then please do not post in webmaster tutorials section. It is not for asking questions it is just for posting tutorials.

Thanks.

I have installed wordpress (see sites in sig) many times, but I think fantastico is so much easier. Hostgator gives access to this along with plenty of other hosts

It is great but it doesnt have the newest version most of the time. It usually takes some time for them to get it updated and there might have been some security problems found with it by then. Anyway a manual install doesnt take much longer if you know what you are doing and after a few times of installing yourself you should get a hang of it. The biggest mistake I see people doing is uploading files with ftp, dont do that as they go one by one and take forever. Instead upload them as a zip file through cpanel file manager and then extract through cpanel file manager.
