I think I should post my WP install tutorial here. You can find it on my site:

It is also possible to install Wordpress without Fantastico, but I find it much easier to do it like explained in my tutorial. It's really quick and you won't have any problems with creating a database.

I'm not posting the tutorial here, as that would be duplicate content for my site, so I just post a link to it.

thanks. i think the whole database part is what trumps most people when it comes to installing wordpress without fantastico.
