Wordpress - I just need a registration plugin hooked up. Help?

I really just need when someone clicks the Submit a Pic or Join Now buttons on my main page, it takes them through a registration process with my site. Nothing fancy. Right now, the buttons take you to a contact form. So I'm getting 'registrations' but I need them to be real and as easy as possible for people to register. Not contact forms like I have now.

I know there are plugins for this and Wordpress can do it stock, I've experimented, it's just I'm trying to make the process work with those two buttons on my cover page and I'm not a coder, so no good at integrating this.

I would LIKE users to have a profile page of their own when finished, but I can do that later - and later I'm hiring someone to hook up Buddypress anyway.

But right now I just really need my registration/login process fixed, not forwarding to contact forms...

Anyone who can help or walk a newbie through this would be so appreciated.

I figured it out.

Now I just need to figure out directing the registered user to a profile page, and not the WP Dashboard. Anyone?
