Wordpress domain mapping

I have a wordpress blog and I want to purchase a domain for it. I just want to know that how can I purchase my own domain fro wordpress and will it affect the popularity of my exist blog or it will be redirected to the new one. Please give your suggesions.

I'm assuming your wordpress blog is currently hosted on wordpress.com - you can buy a domain from a popular registrar like:

DynaDot.com
Name.com
GoDaddy.com

If you go with Godaddy you can use a coupon (LKSWDD495) to get a .com for $4.95 - which is probably the cheapest you'll find at the moment.

Once you have the domain you can set up forwarding so it points to your wordpress blog. This won't have any negative impact on your traffic.

Alternatively, you can self-host the wordpress site. That would involve migrating your blog to a hosting company (e.g. hostgator, site5.com etc)

Yep, you can use any theme you want. It has no relation to where you buy the domain from.
