Is putting Blog in your domain worth it ?

IS it good to create your own blog in like wordpress etd and re-direct your domain to it ?
Wont your domain ranking in search get negative effect ?
Or any other dis-advantage ?

I get the impression many parked domains make little or no income. I suspect the owners would do better in the long term to install Wordpress and make occasional posts related to the probable content of the developed site. That way when a retail buyer comes along they can offer the name PLUS an established, on topic history with the search engines. I see frequent posts by buyers looking for aged domains.

I mean...If i go through WORDPRESS.... They give me a link of a blog e.g furniture.wordpress.com
Now i have to either use the same name, (if I dont want have any domain names of my own)
OR
I re-direct my domain name to this blog...... What do you think ?
If I re-direct my domain name to the wordpress link, will it effect my domain ???

How do other people who have domain names for sale, build a blog ???

It costs very little to get a hosting account that allows you to host multiple domains. Many of these come with an installer that will install wordpress with one click. Then your posts would be on your own domain.
