How in the world is anyone coming up with $xxx for this domain? Sorry, not to burst a bubble here but no one is explaining how they come up with these appraisals. I think you guys need to do some homework.
Overture shows:
Searches done in June 2006
Count Search Term
1222 winsock
There are only 4 bid results on Ovt bid tool - the highest of which is $0.22/click.
Even the Google results aren't that impressive.
But most importantly, the extension stinks. winsock.com could go for $xxxx, the .net could possibly fetch mid $xxx, but .ws? I can almost guarantee absolutely no type-in traffic which means the appraisal would have to be based on how bady an end-user wants the name. They could still get winsock.cc, winsock.tv or winsock.name all for reg fee if they really wanted it that bad.
A typo is only valuable if it get's traffic/revenue. Thats why typos are almost always exclusively .com - you won't get anyone typing "winsock.ws" looking for "wind socks".
I'll stick with $0, sorry.
