Hey,

I was looking at places like Amazon and saw that there are two versions of Vista Premium, the Upgrade version and Normal Version. I can't find anywhere on their site that says what you need to use the Upgrade version, but it is significantly cheaper.

Am i right in thinking that if i have windows xp then i will be able to get the upgrade version of vista? Or will i need to get the full normal version?

You can get the "upgrade" if you are running XP :tu: Save some :$: The issue is more of what you will be able to keep, or rather you will have to do a complete "fresh install" (ie: reformat of HD with all files/settings overwritten). This depends on what you currently have, and what exact version of Vista you are installing over it. For details to answer this, see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeinfo.mspx

Thanks! Rep Added :)
I can just do an
In-place upgrade
You can upgrade in-place, which means you can install Windows Vista and retain your applications, files, and settings as they were in your previous edition of Windows.

As im using WinXP Home :) I'll be getting ultimate, may as well splash out and get all the features instead of a year down the line thinking "I wish i had that feature"
