I know there have been many very heated discussions about similar topics. My theory only applies if .mobi becomes very successful. There are of course many other arguments for mobi, but I would like to present you one more.
“Once upon a time a tld called dotMobi became very successful...”
An Example:
Take the German domain name, banken (banks) which must have a high value under .de (Germany). Then take that value and increase it by certain percentage*, because it can be used in all German speaking countries (.at Austria & .ch Switzerland). I am sure especially the Swiss would be very interested in this domain name.
Spanish .mobi: In all Spanish speaking countries
French .mobi: In all French speaking countries
Technical .mobis: Worldwide (mp3, download, voip etc.)
English: Worldwide (Maybe in the future more than .com?)
*Percentage could be population.
Germany 82 Million
Austria 8 Million
Switzerland 7 Million
~+13% (97m x 15m / 100)
This is just one possible theory.
