This is a project of WikiMedia (the for-profit arm of Wiki), which raises money from investors (such as Amazon), not donations.

I think this is a great project and if done properly, should be a great and usefool tool - more so than google is with its current configuration.

I also looked up the creation date of all of the registered typos. Can you tell when news of WikiSeek got out, just by the creation dates?

why not just use the current wikipedia? Don't quite understand the following:

"First, it is a much better Wikipedia search engine than the one on Wikipedia (and has been built with Wikipedia’s assistance and permission). Second, the fact that it also indexes sites that are linked to from Wikipedia means that, presumably, it will return only very high quality results and very little spam."
