WhyPark and Google Analytics

Hi All -

I just signed up for a WhyPark account and I'm having a lot of trouble getting google analytics to work...

I noticed that there is analytics tracking code in the templates by default with some strange code in it:
<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> _uacct = "UA-124355-14";urchinTracker(); </script>

When I paste in my my ga.js code block it doesn't seem to be recognized as installed.

Also wondering if anyone knows of a way to avoid having to paste in a different code block for each domain.

Thanks,

P

I don't know what code you're seeing in there now, maybe whypark puts its own code in if you don't. but if you put your own code in, eventually it will show up in GA. I've noticed lately that sometimes it takes Google Analytics several hours to a day to actually recognize the code in a new site (and I have hundreds of these)

I don't know of any way to avoid pasting a unique code in for each site. You could paste the same code in for each site, but your Analytics reports would kind of be a mess; there'd be no point in doing it. I don't remember if whypark has a way to do it bulk, but you should email them and ask.

Just be patient with the Analytics code, like I said, Google is running behind these days.

I've noticed that Analytics can take up to two days to begin collecting data. It's well worth the wait! There is no bulk add, you need to add the tracking code provided by Google when you add a site.

There shouldn't be any default code in the block set up for the tracking code. This must be cut and pasted when Google gives you the tracking code.

Update

I fired off an e-mail to WhyPark to ask them why there is another Google Analytics tracking snippet in every page. I've also seen this on other peoples' WhyPark Pages.

I am also wondering if that is what is causing some problems with getting Google Analytics to work. The js used by default in the whypark templates is the older one and Google has some warnings about using two versions in the same page.

I also found that if every domain shares the tracking code then there are still some domain specific stats to be found under "Content Title."

I've been unable to use the newer analytics codes

on my whypark sites, but I use the "legacy code" and it works fine.

usually it's 24 to 48 hours or within that range, it usually works faster if your site has sizeable index results on google.com

yup... I have my own analytics server but sometimes I install google on a site for some reason and it takes approaching 48 hours to see results.
