Catches my eye from time-to-time, Mostly because of the frequent bumps, sometimes into the hundreds of repeats. I'm not talking about the New-comers chancing their arm or those putting a tentative arm out into the domain world for the first time, Mistakes there are to be expected. I'm talking about those apparently holding maybe hundreds or even thousand domains of absolute rubbish. Occasionally I've tried to scroll through these offerings, but usually find I've given up by the time I've reached midway through.

At best one or two of these domains could find a home for a Blogger or some very obscure fringe interest, But they are of very little commercial interest. In fact probably No-Interest at all. So I have to deduce there is No sales income being made, yet the holders continue to persevere with their "buy now before there gone" or "Bargain of a lifetime" headings.

One or two domains listed under these headings are always going to be part and parcel of a domainers education. But when does the penny-drop for those that can't stop registering rubbish. Is domaining truly an addiction, If so why does it not affect all of us. Is it the result of an unhinged mindset, lack of understanding of the English language would be my first conclusion but, why then go into repeating the same mistake hundreds of times over.

These are not Newbie listings and looking at the multi-year repeats are domains being renewed, even constantly added to. I know we can't comment in Sales-Threads but don't you so often want to say 'Hold it there Soldier' 'You've holding your Gun the wrong way around' but it is just not allowed.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

i saw one rubbish name that was on sale here in namepros from 2023 or 2022, and the seller still bumps the thread hoping to sell.

And when I try to give advice to new comers, they get defensive: "Atom accepted it as a premium", "it was appraised for thousands"...

I think it's part addiction, part greed.

Maybe discovery should do a series like hoarders but for domainers.

Real life hoarders collect garbage, domainer hoarders collect digital garbage.

Oh yes. Sometimes I just couldn't resist the temptation to comment anyway. Just take a look at the "Exclusive Domains For Sale" section, it's pathetic. The newest guy listing garbage domains for many thousands of dollars. Pure stupidity.

I have held exactly 13 domains in my domaining journey since last April. Sold one.

I think it's much easier when you don't have too much to spend + aren't looking to get rich quick.

trying to get rich quick is a human trait (topic has been discussed for thousands of years) but now things are really bad because if you try to educate anyone and tell them what they don't want to hear, you are seen as being negative and they just ignore what you tell them.

What you see in domaining you will see everywhere. Drop-shipping forums, stock and crypto trading forums and anything else that people try doing to make money. I am a big fan of trying things, but being reasonable with the risk and moving on when it just is not working for me. The fact that something works for someone else does not mean it will work for you.

Imagine what a dotcom would cost if 40 million rubbish domains are not being held by unrealistic people? Let's at least see some positive, I hold some names that are no good either or priced too high, you can thank me too for keeping registration and renewal prices low.

If you spent some time on youtube and watched what people say about the quick money in domaining, you wouldn't have made this thread. People are being lied to, just like the drop shipping and trading youtube videos. Is Shopify or Alibaba complaining about these videos? Is GoDaddy, NameCheap and NameSilo crying over these unrealistic videos? Is Robinhood or CoinBase concerned about these "gurus?"

Even a thread like this will just be viewed by people fresh from a youtube domaining course as a bunch of domainers trying to keep new people out so we can make all the money ourself.
