Hello,

I have submitted my website a year ago and checked about every 3 months. But Dmoz never lists my site on any of its directories :(

Is my site being blacklisted?

Thanks.

You have submitted it and there is nothing much you can do, except improve your site. "No site is guaranteed a listing." it says in the submittal policies. So that's the end of that. The only reason that dmoz would list you is if your site adds value to the category.

Thanks, I can see that now.

It's really hard to be listed. I use to have the same problem. But good luck with it. Also added a nice design to your site it might help.

just submit and forget..
i try and wait until my sites are content filled and then submit to dmoz
you will either have to wait months/years to get listed becuase of inactive editors or you just wont...

my best advice is to stop giving dmoz any more of your time
they really arnt worth it... concentrate on getting other links

Any tips on getting links? Or is it necessary to use Web promoting services? It's really hard to get links.

Just look for some other free directories out there.

yeah the free directorys help alot :)
you can also try press releases (prweb.com seems to be one of the best) but search google for something like submit press release. just spend a little time writing a good one.

Dmoz itยดs not the most important directory where you should be listed
to rank at Google and so on.

There are lots of high PR directories where you can get listed.

Try a search here:

Results will be sorted by PR.

Dmoz is a joke. Years ago, before all the corruption, sites were listed because you had good content. Now I have no idea how they are listed. Case in point I know a few people, myself included, who submitted links from good quality sites and they never got listed.

While ad farms that were regged for 2 months were listed within 2 months of submission. Talk is unless you pay the editor you don't get listed. And the "Become an editor", part is useless. What happens in most cases is that the editor of the category above yours will snap up your links as theirs (You have to supply 3 links for sites that are not listed as a test that you know what you are doing), and you still get the canned "Not excepted" message.

Of course they get the credit for the links you supply.
