Why give tax info on Afternic

Some companies like Namejet requires ID, which is not acceptable, for me at least. Afternic is better, but for US payments it requires tax info. Does this make any sense. I mean, if I make a small profit, why should Afternic report it; I could do it myself if necessary. I prefer not to give my ID info to anyone except gvt , and my employer. It is my responsibility to report my own earnings. Afternic can report its own earnings and expenses. Everyone is responsible for themselves. Btw I don't make profit on domains, because I reinvest all. Until when: I don't know.

Ummm .. being Canadian in Canada I'm only guessing .. but I'm going to say ...

They require it probably because it's the law ?!?
