I am a domainer and I have been buying domains the past couple of days. In both cases I sent offers.

The first person didn’t send a reply price to my offer, because they did not want to negotiate? So I had wrote back, why not counter offer or nothing? They then replied, basically that they didn’t want to negotiate? So I replied with a higher price and they agreed to it. (I was not going to reply anyway, since there was no price at all)

Again today, I sent an offer for a domain and this person, once again replied with no price back……

That just make ZERO sense to me. Why not at least send back some kind of number? I mean as a seller, you are just giving up!!!! Heck, I might like the price that you send. You never know!

I hope most people are not doing this and I was assume most are not, but the last 2 people that I have dealt with, have done it.

I was willing to go higher on my offers, but when somebody comes back and basically show’s they do not want to work with me, I will go else where, as I am sure many other’s would as well.

You have to take into consideration the fact that some people don't want to sell their domains. Unless specifically advertised as to be for sale.
And most hate being spammed, again assuming the name was not actively for sale and looking for offers

Both domains he is reffering to were posted as for sale on this forum and another.

(He vented to me earlier)

I think you need to understand that people have different ways of doing business. This guy may find that replying with a simple "thanks for your offer" produces better results as the person will re-contact the seller with a better offer which is actually more than he would have countered thus putting him in front using this method.

I actually like this method, thanks for sharing :)

LoL JasMate - too true. Although If I was the first seller, I wouldve also tacked on a counter with the second offer.

I hate negotiating on prices. My attitude is this. People who don't negotiate are less time consuming than people who do and often better customers. (not always) If I decide to counter offer an offer, it will only ever be once. I think that the willingness to negotiate is a personal choice and often a reflection of the culture that somebody is used to operating in.

I put a lot of thought into my prices and have the attitude that if people don't like them, I don't want them wasting my time. Talking about the seller giving up, I wouldn't want to give up my domains to lower prices. That said, the seller should be polite enough to thank you for your offer.

if it is very low ball offer, they may ignore it. If I offer $1k for a LLL.com, what kind
of reply am I expecting?

Some people just don't get it, I recently had a guy running a successful business on a .NL domain looking to go international, tell me $750 was too much for the .COM (no TM issues). $750 was a damn cheap price and if he ever wants the name again in future it will cost 5* that...

:bingo: same thing,
you can't judge people by not replying to you there are a million things going up to their mind, might be personal matters we don't know of, just give them 24 to 48 hours chance or even 72 hours or a whole week (5 business days of course) and then just move on and try again on another prospect, just what i do .

Thank you all for posting. I think this post will help many.

I was already in contact with both and both domains were for sale. So why would you not give a price no matter what it is after somebody has submitted an offer. If somebody offers $100 to get the process started or something close that is not a low ball offer, I do not see a reason why the seller would not respond with a counter offer or an expecting price of some kind. Even if it's $10,000 it gives the buyer an idea of what the seller is looking for.

I also agree that it's a tricky selling process and it could work, but I think it just leaves to many doors open for the buyer to walk away.
