Why do so many people register so many shit domains?

Looking through expired domains I can't believe how many completely worthless domains have been registered. Like 100,000 a day. Are there that many idiots or is it just SEPS spammers auto registering names?

Indeed, many domains are used for spam... they have a very short shelf life.
There are many silly domains because they were registered for silly projects in the first place

I've seen way worse.. raindeerpoop.com is still one I'm baffled by - that one has 11 years worth of renewals.

Tons of those domains are used for spam, link baiting etc. So it is not really people bought it to try and resell or anything but many were used as backdoors to other shit and some used for blog spamming, backlinks from any previous PR it may had had.

Sometimes it takes a moment of madness. I bought heatgun.net for over £200 in a Godaddy auction... what was I thinking!?

I subsequently deleted it from my account not long ago.

Ouch, kind of a stereotype there, RaiderGirl. Next time don't hold back, lol. As for myself, I've picked up 37 new .gtlds, and could not be happier. I think the deleted and expired lists featuring hundreds of thousands of .coms speaks for itself; bad domaining is not limited to new .gtlds.

I guess the crappiest domain I own would be.... 'shit dot tv' lol. But hey, it gets traffic and I have fun with it, hehe.
