Why do I backorder domain names? No more!

I've done this several times through reputable sites and end as the high bidder for a particular dropping domain name. Then it sits, I wait and then ends up in a wish list and someone else gets the name.

Then I look and see that the domain was registered by another person which probably did the same thing at another site.

Why can't this process get connected to make a fair playing field?

My question was answered as follows by xxx. Reviewing the WHOIS for this domain I see that xxx did not catch the domain when it was deleted. Remember that Pending Delete domains are available for anyone to register as brand new names. We have many partner Registrars we use to obtain these names, and we have a very high success rate. However, keep in mind other Registrars are competing for many of the same names. Unfortunately the domain was registered by another Registrar, therefore it cannot be auctioned at xxx.

Not only auctioned, if they would have captured it being the high bidder I would have received it. What a joke process..

Competition is great but can't we get dropped names on a fair playing field and one database where everyone can see and compete. Honestly how hard would that be? Lets get this process linked!

If you really really really want/need a domain name in pending delete, you should invest some money, place a backorder on the most successful registrar (Snapnames, Namejet, Dynadot, Pheenix, and also Pool, DropCatch, maybe BackOrderZone and Name.com) and, if the domain is quite good, get prepared to partecipate in a private auction.
Most of the time, when a backorder is placed on all the registrars i've mentioned, the big ones (Snapnames and Namejet) catch the domain, only rarely it is catched by the others, but still it happens.

If you place backorder on X and Y registrars (for example) but Z (another one) catchs the domain, X and Y can't do anything.

I hope it can clarify your doubts, even if they weren't very clear in your post.

I really think you need to read up how NJ works. Everyone bids the same 59 bucks for a pending delete, if you decide to bid more it doesn't grant you the name automatically if they catch it, it still goes into a 3 day auction and yes you will show as the high bidder but surely anyone within that auction can outbid you.

There are many dropcatchers, if a name is important to you order it everywhere make no exceptions

I would type the company in quotes along with back order in google like "DOMAINNAMELOOKUP, LLC" +backorder some reference lists are out there with participating registrars like http://whois-search.com/deleting/who.php

I would add DropCatch at least, and maybe BackOrderZone, and Pool. GoDaddy doesn't sell pending delete names, only pre-release names. And a GoDaddy backorder is pretty much useless unless the domain isn't picked up by anyone else. Pheenix will beat them every time, at a cheaper price. So I wouldn't figure on using GoDaddy for any pending delete domain drops.
