You will be weathly, and rich... but think about all the people out there who hate you. Your friends will disrespect you (well... if you tell them). If the word gets round, you will soon be the topic of disgussion on forums such as namepros, and I'm telling you now, it dosen't matter how rich you are... you can never escape the feeling of EVERYONE hating you

Wonder if that is how Bill Gates feels at night? They say money can't buy happiness, but I think he's getting a good deal on renting it...

I remember you created a "false accusations" thread here, and it was posted a day later after this thread. I'm not accusing you, but don't you think it would make the mods and admins suspicous?

From a developmental standpoint, the fear of punishment is what keeps children from misbehaving. They have no concept of right vs. wrong. They only respond to positive/negative reinforcement. Their ability to reason is limited.

As we mature our experiences, education, interactions (friends, family, etc.) help us to develop (hopefully) an understand that "being good... ethical.. moral... etc." has value in and of itself. There's no need for a reason!

If you are good... you [and others] are happy
If you are bad... you [and again... others] are deeply upset.

Think about it... can you live with yourself thinking all day that you are ripping people off? I think that that is an awful way to live, and I hope that you feel the same!

Well, as someone who gets turned over CONSTANTLY, i sleep in the knowledge that i sleep well. And all the others that do it to me, they know that somewhere at sometime, there will be a larger scammer just waiting to hurt them back, bigstyle....

I used to sleep in the knowledge that it was impossible to con an innocent man but it seems the internet has changed all that...

However, this is a hobby for me, take my $20....

There are many levels of "bother". It might not be bothersome to have one's account/s banned at an online forum; anonymity can do this. Would it be just as acceptable for everyone in your hometown to know that you are an internet scammer? How about if your parents/kids/grandkids find out?

Its not just the police you should be afraid of. As pointed out above, what if you inadvertently scam someone even badder than you, like say a mafia don's kid?

You may be smart, but there will always be someone smarter.

Seriously, of course if you have none of these constraints, then there is no logical reason to be good.

EDIT: This is way beyond out of the box, but I'm thinking that even with the above conditions, how about if you consider the bigger evolutionary picture? Are lying and cheating anti-evolutionary traits? That is, do liars and cheaters as a group *generally* fail in the evolutionary struggle? My guess is that it will; a group full of liars and cheats can't compete with a relatively cleaner group, and eventually will be ground to the dust or assimilated. In which case, it is illogical to be dishonest, as it is detrimental to your "tribe".

Is my reasoning logical? Are my assumptions valid? :tri:
