Why are .tv domains so expensive to register

can someone tell me why .tv domains are so expensive to register..( new to all this)

I'm not sure, but my guess is that it is for tv stations who have a lot of mony to spend on a domain. It also prevents a regular joe from siting on CBS .com and abc won't buy cbs.com as they would get sued to their deaths

IMHO, Maybe cause the demand for them will not be high, and only a handful of people will be interested in it ? hm...
