Because we're idiots; we roll over and allow them to pick our pockets without a whimper.

We allow them to warehouse expiring domains without giving others a shot and then we jump in feet first and bid big $$$ on their shilled auctions.

And we're shocked?

very disturbing stuff lately in our industry, i tried to get dnjournal.com to write a warning article for others to read about ParkingPanels.com Fraud/Scam and he agreed to do so... not one single article has been published, what good is DnJournal.com or any other site that sits back and does nothing about it when we need publicity about the scam/fraud!

Our industry is full of big spenders who also like to SCAM/FRAUD our industry.

Im disgusted by all this. I have done what I can with ParkingPanel.com and I'm not giving up until this matter is in court or someone ends up in JAIL!

Because it's a money. And they will scam people in future.

I think because there's little to no real regulation protecting things.

Probably 10,000s of domains have been stolen over the years, but how many people have been arrested or jailed for domain theft? I believe just one person has been arrested, in total? (Around there anyway)

Just like some big registrars (GoDaddy come to mind) don't always do things by the book (their 60 day registrar lock when changing WHOIS info breaches ICANN policy I believe?), but get away with it.

It's unfortunate, and I'd love to see this sorted.

DNjournal is an industry lapdog man, you can forget about seeing anything "hard hitting" there, it's sycophant news at it's best (or worst, depending on perspective).

Next time try contacting some of the real industry sites dnn.com / dnw.com etc

Ok, rereading my post, that sounds harsh. Let me revisit this post and just say that DNjournal is more of a human interest publication than news publication.

Interesting post. The obvious answer imo is that they want to land the biggest sales, or show that their product actually is valuable. Leading to being greedy / dishonest. Without getting too deep into religion, it's just how things are because of sin.

I remember reading something about NETWORK SOLUTIONS buying domains and then reselling them to the person that was searching through their domain search engine. Pretty hard to stomach that, if the domain game continues down this path, the government will start getting involved more and more, possibly leading to very restricted rules, or the banning of domain brokerage (some might say it is impossible, but they also said the Titanic could not sink, and that real estate game would never crash).

In addition it seems some times to win that you have to be dirty, but be careful sooner or later you will be exposed.

Ron won't write anything to bad mouth his own sponsors as the same with other publishers. I love his site but maybe he is worried about a lawsuit.

AS far as the big wigs in this industry, they all seem to be in bed with each other these days. Same ol' faces at the traffic shows and auction, same ol' lowdowns, same ol' gossip. The smaller guys do have a edge and that edge is DEVELOP NOW!

I have not used the SEDO platform in a very long time either. So sick of drilling in a pool of 11.5 million names, most of which I think are useless.

SO, SO, SOOOOO TRUE!

To paraphrase Captain Renault from the movie classic Casablanca, "I am shocked, shocked to find that domain scamming is going on in here!" (For those of you that have not seen the movie, Capt Renault is (gladly) accepting his winnings as he is proclaiming (to his superiors) his "shock" about the gambling that is occurring around him at Rick's Cafe.)

(Hehehe, you said "sycophant".... I LOVE that word! I don't know why, but it has always sounded like an obscene word to me.)

The internet in general is fraught with danger, there just seem to be some seriously bad players in every industry. Frankly, if most of them spent as much effort building legitimate business as they do trying to take shortcuts and build semi-illegal opportunities, they would probably make more money.

I just had to blog about this at Vbum.com. Really not cool but really is this that surprising?
