PHP and Javascript are very similar. You shouldn't have any "grief" at all. :) In fact, the most "alien" material in any PHP script you find, will be related to what ANY scripting language will need to do to obtain Whois information. I could write a Javascript whois script, but it would need to use another website to get the whois information, worse, such a script would be wide-open for abuse.

Your best bet is to buck-up and use PHP. Most scripts out there are plug-and-play.

Try this PHP script. It has some security features.

no javascript does not have this ability, client side. But server side javascript does. Both are the same name, but pretty differnt. Good luck. If you need a host for a php whois script, pm me :)

Just as a note to think outside the box. Javascript alone may not have the ability, but if there is a javascript "solution" for getting Whois onto a website, the details of what is *really* doing the "real work" doesn't really matter. So, there very well may be "javascript whois" out there for someone to plop on their website. If not... maybe someone will create it soon (Nexus begins to rub hands together and the sound of rusty gears begin to whistle through the cold night air).
