Thank you for contacting 123-reg

I can confirm that it is not possible to opt-out of the WHOIS database for global top level domains (such as .coms) without losing the ownership of the domain name itself."

I get this message from the customer care.

Is it possible to use an external privacy service? If yes, please name them below[reliable ones].

Yes.

Mostly all registrars allow whois privacy.
Many registrars can allow WHOIS privacy. But none of them are required to
offer that service to end users to begin with.

That's why I'm rather scratching my head why you reported it to InterNIC, as
they have no jurisdiction over a registrar's business practices. ICANN ensures
they comply with their contractual terms and policies, but that's just about it.

Just transfer your domain name to another registrar who offers it. That'll solve
the issue.

No I never did. I was suggesting this as an idea that I could do, after I transfer the domain name.

I initiated transfer of the domain name to Name.

Ah, okay. That ended my head-scratching.

In any case, have a good transfer.
