Yeah, I don't like putting my address and my phone number into the WHOIS database so everyone can see it. I feel like some freak is gonna call me or come to my house. Is there any way that I don't have to put all that stuff down?

Depends on where you register the domains, some registrars can provide domain privacy for you, such as godaddy for example.

When DNOA opens up for registration again, you can pay one low fee for an entire year, which will allow unlimited use of the DNOA whois privacy address.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of buyers (end users) get the info from the whois record. A prime example is the recent sale of TGN.com for 75G's. I happen to know the person who sold it, and the info in the whois record is how the buyer got in touch with the seller. I do understand that a lot of people don't want that info out there, but this is general info that anybody could find out with little effort. It's not like you are giving out your SIC number, or your CC number etc. Address, tele number, no big deal, I think.

With DNOA, you still can leave your email address and filter out who you want getting your address and more detailed information.

Two part answer (in response to midnight and OP)

1) If you don't want your home phone and addy out there, get a cellphone mini plan just for domains / emergencies (Used to be the off-road phone, for me ;) ) and get a PO Box to avoid the home address.

2) "Domain Privacy" you still get emails from DomainByProxy and most other major providers, they are just forwarded.

And lastly, neither will shield you from legal responsibility, so don't think that this is a way to avoid TM issues, etc.
