My vote would go for SnapNames.

I've followed several (less than 10) dropping .com domains in the last several months (this year). All in niches which interest me but not big money domains or niches. The majority of these domains were picked up by SnapNames on the drop. They were not formally regged at SnapNames Partner registrars. They all went to auction for between $9-$59. None had bids on them before they were picked up or whilst they were in the auction. They closed the auction after 3/4 days and dropped the domain after 4/5 days. My GoDaddy backorder then picked up these domains. (About the only good thing about GoDaddy backorders).

I had thought that only domains which had backorders on them were attempted to be caught by these auction houses, SnapNames/NameJet/Pool. But now I know better.

When are ICANN going to implement their no refund policy? I had thought they had implemented it already.

Snapnames' registrars hoover just about everything on the drop (at least everything that I want ) I'm not sure the percentage of names they keep if they don't receive bids (taste), most drop.

Then eNOM's registrars come through and clean up the auction drops. Mortals can beat eNom to those names.

Then there are other registrars that scan for eNom's drops (sometimes an eNom will catch other eNom's drops :p)

Vibrant Networks taste heavily and they kite names too... you never know *when* they're going to drop, unless you scan 24/7 :notme:

SnapNames drop 30k-60k names every day, i'd guess almost all of them tasted. They catch and taste virtually everything they can get as far as I can tell.

Vibrant Networks/itime marketing taste and kite quite a few names.
Problem with these people, they are spammers like webnamesolution.com, they taste names and contact holders of other extensions and offer them for sale.

Snap must be one of the biggest tasters out there too.

Yeah, I tried going there yesterday, but no luck. I hope Jamie is able to get that back up and it doesn't go the way of redrops...

Google's got it cached from the 20th. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=c...-ogAiWh_eK-IBYSIA&sig2=oT8PEyJcuVkI5LDWupGN7g

I think it was mentioned somewhere that eNom uses that daily list to coordinate it's grabs...

Here are some of the more popular tasters and kiters showing up on my scans:

ONLINENIC, INC.
BLACK ICE DOMAINS, INC
NICREG LLC
OPENNAME LLC

Example: phillyaudio.com deleted May 8th, was recycled between these tasters and was finally dropped today... Not a bad name for a audio specialty store (or label maybe) in Philadelphia IMO.

*update* NICREG LLC just started tasting it again... lol!

Luc owns TasteReports.com not me

What's wrong with www.Redrops.com ? It explains the process to a T for both SnapNames.com and Pool.com tasted domains and the redrop process. I did stop providing the lists, but the process is right there for you. A "little" work to DL the list and a quick sort is all you need to do. That's all I did while providing the lists on Redrops.com . I also provide you www.LazyMate.com for 100% FREE which is my personal tool to help sort the lists etc. which I can take down if you wish....

Being a Domainer, you should know these kinds of things. Domainers are some of the best investigators.

To assist, you can use www.Whois.sc and who owns the domain will give you the best clue to ownership...
TasteReports.com will show Lezon Inc. as the owner etc.
RegistrarStats.com will show Privacy, but using Whois History will show eNom Inc. as the owner. Plus the ยฉ eNom Inc. 1998-2006 at the bottom of the page as well. The ยฉ is out of date, but whois history still shows eNom as the owner.

(hangs head) True... on their webpage is "ยฉ eNom Inc. 1998-2007" and the disclaimer has eNom down as a party. Looks like an eNom product...

Another taster tidbit: Vibrant Networks is catching any NNNNN.com it can get its hands on, typically releasing them within 4 days and many all at the same time. These are being snatched up by, *ahem*, me, and other domainer in China (I prefer to call them 'Nemesis' :) )
