I have a name in .cool and .lol. There's another extension that would fit the content better, though. I don't really like .blog. What extension would you use for a personal site, blog, pictures, random stuff? Thanks

.COM - Cant beat the value it will build over time. Also why not a .me.

The .me isn't available. I would use the .me. I'm considering going with another new gtld extension (not .blog).

I'm a little concerned though because I launched it as a .lol and saw really good google results. I duplicated the site to the .com and the .com doesn't show up at all on google for the keywords but the old one does. I 301 redirected the .lol it to the .com. The .com name isn't as good sounding, though.

I am ONLY considering continuing with .lol because it ranked so high in google for good keywords. Do you think Google gives preference over the domain registry? ie: donuts vs uniregistry vs afilies (not registrar)?

You can use any tld as long as it does not contradict your niche (eg. not use .kitten when your niche is lion). If the dot com variant is available, use the dot com or at least register it - who knows I may be getting tons of traffic in the dot com I own and you have a fantastic blog on .something :xf.smile:

Thanks. The .com domain is completely unrelated. It's just a pretty cool sounding combination of 2 words. It has no relevance to the content. The other tld's are 1 word/name.

I prefer .com. My oldest domain is a personal website that I have for my jeep.

Otherwise, I would suggest .me or .us (cheaper).

.com or .ca because I'm Canadian.

new gtld only if its a category killer term, for example stock.photos or sports.shop

if you go the new gtld route there are hundreds to choose, one or more should suit your subject
