Which open source licence?

Ive been looking into open scourcing my project Ripe Website Manager and I need to know which licence would be best for me.

What I want from my licence is to force anyone who copys the source to allways provide details of who built it etc. Also in the future I may want to release a pro style version of the the software.

I took a quick glance at some of the more popular licences and I beleive that the GNU GPL is not for me as its very close to being public domain. I'm looking into the BSD licence and so far it looks like the best option.

I dont know much about this so can someone help me out and tell me if I'm right/wrong or if there are others that fit my need.

BSD license would be your best option imho.

Yeah I think I will be going with BSD. So do I just add the licence text file to my package or do I need to register somewhere?

No you just add the license to your software.
