At Hostgator, they have two different script installers available - QuickInstall and Fantastico.

For scripts available through both, is there any benefit of using one over the other?

Quickinstall is a custom Hostgator script. They both do the same thing.

Its better to opt for a standard auto-installer rather than a custom as standard auto-installer are updated frequently with new scripts and proper support is provided on it. Softaculous is one of the popular auto-installer these days which has over 300 ready to use scripts.

Softaculous is an auto installer for cPanel and DirectAdmin. It is faster, well designed and easy to install all scripts in 1 click .

+1 for Softaculous. Even, you will find many recommendations to use it. Fantastico is quite behind in the race.
