In view of an absolute number, not relative.

The poll will close in 60 days.

.com :) was, and always will

.tv looks like a good contender though

.com will continue to be on top, including highest rate of appreciation and absolute values. My *guess* is that .net will show the second highest rate of appreciation and absolute appreciation...

I suppose that is really what this race is about: What is the *second* place domain. In fact an ordered list would be nice!

I say otherwise; .net will go down in value. .com, as always, will continue to rise meteorically. LLL.coms for 10k minimum by july next year. Grab them right now!

You actually believe that high quality .net's will go down in value by July of next year (July 2008)???

I may be wrong on .net's being the second highest appreciating domain extension, but I just don't see the .net's going down in value - barring any major economic correction or downturn... I just sold a .net (XX,XXX), so you are saying I sold at the top? I am still feeling seller's remorse.

I say that because I've seen .net really go down in sales. Barring a few abberations, .net hasn't pulled off many spectacular sales. The old 10% value of .com does not apply to .net anymore. Even LLL.nets aren't performing as expected. I couldn't find a buyer for a pair going for $100 below minimum wholesale price.

I think the .me will only be good for domain hacks.

It is impossible for anything to be better than .com, but i voted .net as second.

The supposed 10% rule was never the case for keyword names, the % has always been far lower, 3-4%. This is just one of the myth's in the domain industry which sounded logical to some commentators.

What was the 3 letter .net that you can't sell at $100 lower than the minimum wholesale amount ($825) ?

Over the next couple years I would say...

.com
.mobi

These will appreciate the most :imho:

Mobi, for sure. The potential growth of the mobile internet is huge, and adoption, while slower than some would hope, is happening. (OT, but I consider LLLL.coms a mobile internet play). I am talking percentage growth, both dollar and regs. But mobi has well less than a million regs now, so it has catching up to do.

Top country .CCs (other than US) will do very well indeed as com gets full. I think Cn and De are the number 2 and 3 in total regs.

Org is rising in numbers, but I continue to believe that dollar values will not grow as quickly as numbers regged.

Net would follow the market, I agree that it's lustre as number 2 is fading as other extensions grow.

Info - a few days ago I looked at the completed (sold) listings on ebay - I do not think there was a sale over $5. in two weeks. I have some and it concerns me that it seems to have a rep as a "cheap" domain, nobody wants to pay $$ or $$$ for a $2 reg.

US could catch on, but not a lot of signs of that. I have seen them advertised in commerce .

{omitted} TV certainly has it's supporters (as do IDN's) - I still have not figured how someone getting in now, with limited resources, could do anything with it. I really have no idea where to put the extension.

A while ago, my intuition told me something but I may be wrong.

Tv..? Any tv-domain reminds me of a tv-set. I donยดt want to look at tv all the time ;)

Mobi: Reminds of mobile phones. Mobi may raise in relative numbers but only that.

Potential for both these, but not generally speaking, hence only niche-wise.

I meant the big market. Com can stay nr 1 for a long time but logically, it just cannot stay that for all time. It has its profile, but other extensions also have their profile. No other general extension than .net (or .org) has that size.
I think that .net will increase slowly. Only domainers talk about .tv and other extensions but ordinary people only know about the three cno.

There are tons of good .com names but parked. Most names I look for that I find taken are parked. What does it lead to? People have to take .net. Why would they take anything else? There are still a lot of .com available in certain areas here and there, I have found even today that is so surprising so any .net boom will not take place yet but I believe in a year or two.

I do not believe so well in a potential of .mobi and .tv. Because nearly all names are already taken but most of these are parked. The internet does not provide any developed .tv or .mobi-domains. Right? Most names just sleep
and that holds back the potential. In the 90ยดs, domains were developed into websites. Com, net and org became websites from the beginning, not parked.
There are many parked .coms today, but not so many premium .coms are parked, rather developed. And the same about .net and .org. Thatยดs why I think .net has the largest potential, actually. But not to show yet.

How could .com stay so much king king for ever. It wonยดt, not like today. Companies or just anyone wonยดt try to find their .com-names when they arenยดt available and even longer names are taken, the names canยดt be too long.

This to!: There are many quite good two word .coms parked, so
it wonยดt be so bad afterall for people to grab the net-version instead if the .com is parked, since there is no competitor to consider.

Short names is also one of the most important marketing criterias and no matter how much king .com has been, a too long .com is not good either.

Many really great 2 word phrases are available as .net and for my own part, I will make some .net investments, I think its worth it.
