As we know that many states are holding the primary elections now. There are some crazy reports coming in. Some reports are not so surprising, other than Ron Paul's % and lack of votes. With so many jumping on the Ron Pauls campaign and fund raising efforts(big results). Why is he not getting the desired results?

Here is some sites that are doing state by state results of the primaries. The sites need to update by the end of the day. With New Hampshire doing their primaries today.

These two links shows the delegate votes state by state for the candidates as well,
Republicans

Democrats

Polling Results up to 1/4/08. It gives results for the Gallup, PEW research, ABC, FOX, NBC

I honestly think it's because the average voter knows next to nothing about the candidates and the issues. They're not interested in anything beyond name recognition or charisma on stage. How do you think Giuliani and Clinton have support? Today's average voter listens to sound bytes and picks up on words like "freedom" and "change."

See this for example. People hear the word "freedom" and don't care to bother about anything else that's said. Giuliani goes on to say that freedom is about authority, and that if there is too much freedom we'll have anarchy. And somehow, people are still supporting him because they recognize his name. It's frustrating when the mainstream media is against anyone who isn't part of their "top tier." Sitting in the dentist's office yesterday tuned to a political station (Fox News - beware!), Paul's name wasn't mentioned once, even though they went through "all" of the candidates (in their eyes).

I'm surprised as well.. watching the news we see tons of Paul signs and supporters but it's evidently not translating into votes.. I demand a recount by a disinterested party.. ;)

Maybe that's part of the problem since Diebold is counting 81% of the votes... D-:

At the very least, Paul needs to come in 3rd to be taken seriously..

I think a lot of Paul's support comes from outside of the Republican base. He's getting a lot of interest from Democrats, independents, Libertarians, and others that wouldn't translate into votes in the Republican primaries.

So.. would he do well to go Independent then? I personally think a Republican nomination is a looooooong shot for him, but he could be a spoiler for the election.

Ron Paul would be better as an independent, :imho:

He would also get more coverage that way, he's already doing great in donations.

I hope he does. The downside is that he'll lose a lot of the Republican support, but if that's not much to begin with... screw them. :D

well, I can't be the only Republican who sees Paul as the answer to the 2008 election! ;)

You're certainly not; I'm one, too. :)

The media already likes to remind people that he ran in 1988 under the Libertarian Party (as if it's a bad thing), and switching to a third party would probably damage his credibility, although he'd fare well by switching. He's done all but rule it out so far.

Paul also ran againts Ronald Reagan in 1980 if I remember correctly.

Joe Lieberman switched and people thought he would do well switching and going away from the Democratic party.

Still I wonder why all the support for Paul, why its not translating into votes.
