When I catch dropped names the drop service usually registers my new domain with someone who is not my primary registrar. My questions are:

1. Do you go through the trouble of transferring those names to your primary registrar and/or make it a private registration?

2. Do you leave it alone and/or make it a private registration?

So far I have added private registration to all my applicable domains at my primary registrar. I have not transferred any drop-catches to my primary registrar nor have I added private registration to them where they are. I want to consolidate everything and add private registration but I don't know if the cost is worth it. Is private registration a waste of money? My primary registrar is GoDaddy.

Thanks,

rxmr

:bingo:

AFTER 60 days, I "pull" (transfer them in) to my primary Registrar - which in my case is my trusty $8.95 Enom Reseller account, IMHO.
Makes life easier! :music:

All the best.

Yup I do the same. I wait 60 days and move them all to Enom. I don't mind terribly using namescout.com (the primary registrar I get using pool's backorders) and the various registrars Snapnames domains are caught at, but it's just easier to manage domains at Enom. This is especially true when you turn around and sell any of these names. It's much easier to do an instant push to the buyer's Enom account (or create one for him if he/she needs) than to hassle with an external transfer.

Same here, I pull them to eNom. Having all your names in one place allows you to easily check if someone swiped any. Just look at the number of domains registered.

Damn, I wonder how I'm going to pay renewal on all of them....

It is good to move all names to one registrar. Easier to manage

I generally wait until about 60 days before they expire, then transfer them. 60 days is enough that you aren't stuck, but also doesn't cost me the extra transfer fee if I can sell in the first 6-8 months. However, if it's a name I intend to keep long term for development, PPC, or personal use, I'll go ahead and transfer since I'd probably pay the transfer fee later anyway. It also depends on my projected end value of the domain. A $7 transfer is not a big deal if the name costs or is worth at least three digits.

I transfer mine too... takes a bit of effort... but easier than managing domains and multiple registrars.
